...to tell you all a happy ending story about premature birth?!

My dd was born at 23 weeks and weighed 1lb 2. You could see through her skin.

She was ventilated and on shedloads of steroids and was fed tiny quantities of my milk through a tube into her tummy. I had to ask permission to touch her. She had blood taken from her heel every few hours to check her lungs were working properly; after a couple of weeks the skin on her feet was completely broken down like a wound that never healed.

She's had a heart operation and an eye operation. She's had whooping cough and chicken pox.

Today's her second birthday. She's not on oxygen or any medicine any more. She's running and talking and giggling, and smashing all her developmental milestones. I sneezed this morning and she said 'bless you, Mummy'.

I'm the proudest mum in the world.

DS 1 was born at 24 weeks at just 1lb 9! was born with over 20 infections including chicken pox, ventilated but only for a couple weeks, steroids to. Was given a 20% chance of living. He made it! He hasnt had many long lasting complications like i hear some but does have bad eyesight, dyspraxia and slightly more brittle bones (5 breaks+toes and fingers!), plus it might be why hes a bit shorter than most! He also has EDS and PoTS- but there generic. He turns 17 this year and you know what you wouldnt know he was once fighting for his life. I love hearing how other premies have survived and i think it just shows how strong we and espiciily are little DCs truly are,
