To think it should be illegal not to provide access to a toilet and water for all workers?

Obviously if you go to an office/factory/shop etc your employer has to provide it but I'm thinking of anyone who has people working for them in their own home. Talking to friends who do community nursing and tradespeople working for me they frequently find people won't allow them to go to the loo or offer them a drink no matter how long they are there for. It staggers me that anyone wouldn't provide basic facilities. If it is an issue with cleaning there should be the right to deduct an amount from any bill to cover it.

Agree with either allowing use of the bathroom or paying for a portaloo! Not sure who or what a PP is referring to that needs neither?

I'm terrible for not offering drinks Blush only because I don't drink tea or coffee myself and don't always have milk in the house, so a bit awkward to say "there's tea and coffee but no milk".

I would never refuse access to the toilet though.

badbadbunny, I guess I'm trying to say that dickheads will be dickheads in many ways - be that client or trades person.
You get pisstakers in all walks of life.

Incidentally, I would always make someone working in my home drinks and make them feel welcome.

We've had quite a number of tradespeople over the last year, working both inside and outside the house, as we've been renovating the house.
I've no problem at all if they want to use the toilet (mostly they made their own arrangements and went off at lunchtime for food/toilet breaks). However, when it came to the postman asking one day if he could use my toilet, I was pretty taken aback with that. I did say yes, but I was taken by surprise with his request. I suppose it would have been different if I'd known him but he was a new postie and I'd never actually seen him before!

I always make a cuppa (with biccies etc), for tradesmen working in my house.
Also they are welcome to use the loo. I don't particularly like it but what's the alternative? If you are paying an hourly rate, do you really want them to go off site to use facilities elsewhere?
Obviously some of the carrier bags full of pee, which I regularly find in my hedges, are as a result of those people who do not allow workers access to their loo.
