To ask strangers if they want to sell their houses?!

We live in a rented house that backs onto a small common. Our landlord now wants the house back. The common is beautiful and very special to me and I would dearly love to buy one of the other houses on it, but none are for sale.

So... WIBU and very rude to put letters through the doors asking if anyone is contemplating selling in the near future? Would it bother you to get such a letter?

We got our house after I posted a rant on here about how difficult it was to buy in our area.
A lady private messaged me through the site and we had bought and exchanged in 4 weeks without any estate agents. Our perfect location and just what we wanted. I couldn't believe it at first!
I'd definitely go for it!

We've had a couple of these and one of our neighbours is selling to the people from the most recent one. If it was a couple of years down the line for us then I would definitely consider it.

Message was nice, just explained they were a family renting in the area and were looking for a 4 bed to buy if anyone was interested in selling. Property sells in our street within days at the moment so I would be making sure I got the right price.
