To not enjoy going into town shopping with the children

So, it's a bank holiday and DH was keen to go into town and the shops with the children. I dread this as it may be busy, getting dragged round shops I'd never want to go in, gadget shops, and toy shops and being there for ever, and you can;t look at anything as always keeping an eye on the children. It just seems futile. DH wants to go to Gap for clothes and maybe look for sunglasses. I offered to stay home with the children so he could go look, but he likes us all going together.

I let them go in the end and went myself a nice quiet walk in the park. Is it just me or do most people enjoy trips into town with the children? You do see lots of families going round the shops and it doesn't look very enjoyable. Except maybe when they have a baby and it doesn't have a choice of shops to go to. But even then it was a flap of finding changing rooms and the like, I remember.

It's a bit selfish that he wants you there. It's the last thing the kids will want to do.

Bloody nightmare - as soon as they've been in 'their shops' it's moansvile until we get to the car -
Toilet, cake, shoved past shoe shops - can look or try on - not to mention the fights

Hell on Earth!!

I only ever go to a shop when it's a weekday not in the school holidays.

It's not a leisure activity for me.

Your DH should just go alone. (although this advice is clearly too late now for today)

I love having a mooch round the shops with my 2 year old. She enjoys it too!

Good grief no, I don't enjoy shopping with my two kids. I don't mind if we're going specifically for something for them and can get that then leave again but I try my hardest not to have to take them if I need something for me, and we would never choose to 'go for a look around the shops' as a day out.

To be honest I don't really enjoy shopping with anyone, except possibly my mum. I've been for weekends away with friends where they want to spend hours trying things on in the same shops we have in our home town and I just end up thoroughly bored!

I quite enjoy having a mooch around the shops, by myself, while the kids are at school though.

No. No. Why?! No. Just no.

I only go shopping with the kids if a) they have some money of their own and we go to the shops they want and then scarper, sharpish or b) we need an emergency shop that can't wait for an online delivery and then it's like a SAS operation, in, acquire target items and then pull the team out a.sap.

Shopping with children is not a leisure activity.

The kids are 8 and 12 and they quite like it as they want to go to games shops, gadget shops and the like and he's happy to go to those as well, but it just bores me and stresses me. It is a bit much expecting me to go but i just do my own things to be honest and went for a nice peaceful walk int he ask (had been with the children most of the day as DH had work, so we tend to swap around in the hols anyway to give each other a break).

Hate it! Dd8 is fine for a while, as long as we are in all the shops she enjoys. But dd2 who is 16 months just moans the whole time as she wants to get out the pram and run around and then I'm constantly chasing her and have no time to look at anything.

95% of my shopping is done online, include my grocery shop now. I only go into town if I really have to if i can't order the thing online.

The only shopping I've liked is buying stuff for the kids (without them there).

Clothes shopping when they both needed stuff wanted to choose was done all 4 of us together-divide & conquer!

I hate clothes shopping though!
