I saw your new baby hopping around the garden this morning, only a singleton, but s/he was looking well and healthy.

I am hoping for good news from Mr and Mrs Blackbird soon, but they seem to be a bit slow this year, last week they were still refurbishing the nest. Mrs B is fussy diva and expects a complete overhaul and redecoration every year.

You appear to be a bit cuckoo.

wildflowermeadows · 01/05/2017 14:53

I am waiting for Mr and Mrs Goldfinch to bring their young fledgies to our garden.

pipsqueak25 · 01/05/2017 14:54

Flowers congrats to the new parents, always lovely to see new life in the garden and in nature.
mrs b the diva - was she a bridezilla i wonder ? poor mr b, i bet she dragged him to ikea too, they probably got lost in the shop and that's why they started late Grin

WorraLiberty · 01/05/2017 14:55

How do you know all these birds are married?

Were you invited to the hen nights?

LadyPW · 01/05/2017 14:55

Yay Grin

theuserformerlyknownas · 01/05/2017 14:56

You must be very eagle eyed

FuzzyCustard · 01/05/2017 14:56

Lovely news. We have Mr and Mrs Bluetit awaiting fledglings in our garden. After a dry spell, they are enjoying themselves finding worms in the rain today.

pipsqueak25 · 01/05/2017 14:58

the male birds in my garden are often 'nagged' by the females - speaks volumes Grin

BeyondThePage · 01/05/2017 15:00

Our little Westie dog came in with a present of "baby blackbird" - stuffed half way down his throat with 2 little legs sticking out - both comical and tragic at the same time.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 01/05/2017 15:01

Colin and Colette, the collared doves, appear to have successfully raised a chick this year after two consecutive years of quite piss-poor parenting.

WorraLiberty · 01/05/2017 15:04

Lovely! Meanwhile down on the coast, Mr Giant Cunty Seagull has managed to dislodge the large brick shoved on top as a deterrent and has once again eviscerated the contents of our wheelie bin...

ALemonyPea · 01/05/2017 15:13

Perhaps you'd like Mr & Mrs Magpie to take up residence in your garden? They're currently in the tree outside my bedroom window, no their little darlings like to wake me at 5am for their breakfast. Noisy fuckers.

BuzzKillington · 01/05/2017 15:13

We have blue tit eggs in a hole in a tree. There's a perfectly lovely bird box on the tree, but they chose to make their nest in a hole instead.

Our ducks, Craig and Tracy, are also expecting a happy event soon.

HappyFlappy · 01/05/2017 15:14

Mr and Mrs Magpie seem to have had fertility treatment this year - there are loads of the buggers squawking from the nest in the top of NDN's Very High Tree.

AnthonyPandy · 01/05/2017 15:15

Erm they're not really allowed to hatch until Springwatch are ready with the cameras tbh

UrsulaPandress · 01/05/2017 15:17

We have more ducklings than you can shake a stick at down on the farm. Some of the ducks are displaying piss poor parenting skills and keep randomly losing them.

The swallows have only been in residence since 17th April so are still busy refurbishing last year's nest.

The magpies have once again feasted on the squabs in the fir tree.

Bloomed · 01/05/2017 15:18

Mr and Mrs Blackbird here keep telling me to fuck off whenever I go outside so I assume they're getting ready for a new arrival.

wonkylegs · 01/05/2017 15:19

We have a family of pheasants which the most gorgeous chicks in our garden at the moment, they nest in a big bank of trees and come out in the day to feed in the hedgerows and on the lawn. They are ridiculously cute.

Beeziekn33ze · 01/05/2017 15:20

I think it was Mr GC Seagull who scared me stupid early one morning last week. I woke suddenly to hear a spooky male voice calling 'Maamaa' apparently from my spare bedroom. No weird Victorian dolls in there - my second thought - (first was weird Victorian escaped lowlife) As my brain got into gear I decided it had to be a bird perched above the window. He hasn't been back!
Did I watch too much Dr Who?

Beeziekn33ze · 01/05/2017 15:21

This is a lovely thread by the way!

SemiNormal · 01/05/2017 15:23

Was it a swift arrival?

Mr and Mrs Swan are busy preparing to become new parents. Mrs Swan is guarding her eggs constantly this year after some got eaten last year.

Mr and Mrs Duck have an abundence of new children, sadly some seagulls killed a few of last years brood.

nursy1 · 01/05/2017 15:24

House martins back from long trip. Fixing up nursery

NorthernLurker · 01/05/2017 15:25

We have Mr and Mrs Dove too. I agree they are dreadful parents. Dreadful nest builders too, it's very precariously balanced on our satellite dish. No babies last year and not much chance this year.
