Taking cakes to job interview

My lovely friend had a job interview last week. Very large organisation, likely to be a strongly structured interview. I asked her how it went and she said well, and that she had baked a cake and taken it along to the interview.

AIBU to think that this has more likely hindered rather than helped her application?

Is this ever a done thing?

I'm feeling anxious at the thought she probably had to leave her Tupperware behind with the cake. Or was that on purpose so they invited her back for a 2nd interview and gave it back then? Genius ploy Grin

Ahead of the curve. All new zero hours contracts will be awarded exclusively to candidates who perform a six month unpaid internship first, provide weekly cakes and commence all conversations with their line manager by offering a doily clad plate of home-made biscuits in our wonderful post-Brexit one party state Cake

Yahy! I'm pleased for her!

Well done one's friend!
So, once again, cake shows us the way.

Gold star for updating!
Delighted for her. It's still not something I'd do or recommend, but I'm pleased it didn't go against her.

Gosh. I'm amazed. Mind it's taken a long time, maybe the others were so awful they thought "let's get her in for a second interview to check, maybe she's not actually mad"

mammmamia · 25/05/2017 00:16

Well done OP's friend!

FrogsLegs31 · 25/05/2017 13:10

Well done her! I just wish everyone here would stop saying they mus have thought she was mad but they gave her another chance.

No they liked her so they shortlisted to the second round of interviews which is entirely normal in that sector.

Why do British people get so down on those who are confident or take risks?
