Anyone know?

OP posts:

Not just qualified, Smiling but "fully qualified"! I think it's the same person who has an odd food obsession, too.

floraeasy · 27/04/2017 22:34

Ah, I believed in that thread!

I never know what to think about these. A small part of me thinks maybe the poster was someone with a drug addiction and could have just been trying out a scenario about how her life could change if she changed it. A sort of Law of Attraction trial run or something.

Who knows that the motivation was Confused

WayfaringStranger · 27/04/2017 22:36

The user who qualified as a social worker and is already amazing but can't get a job hasn't appeared for a while.

Crowdblundering · 27/04/2017 22:40

Awlookatmybanyspider

I did genuinely come off Heroin with no medical help - a long time ago - it is possible honest!

Bit Sad about this.

Crowdblundering · 27/04/2017 22:41

RedBullNlood

TBH all Social Workers I know refer to themselves as "qualified" or "fully qualified"

Grin
WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 27/04/2017 22:42

Well done Crowd Flowers that must've been very, very difficult!

WayfaringStranger · 27/04/2017 22:44

I know loads of social workers and they never refer to themselves as qualified, neither do I. That's because social worker has been a protected title for ages.

Crowdblundering · 27/04/2017 22:44

Thanks - I wasn't seeking glory I just didn't want people who invested to feel despondent Grin

Crowdblundering · 27/04/2017 22:46

wayfaring

All the ones I work with do - I think a lot of it is to do with restructuring etc one of them didn't want to sit in an office with us (qualified in things other than social work) and said - in front of us "well I don't want to be sat in an office with a load of unqualifieds" Hmm we were all really helpful to her after that Grin

user1488460762 · 27/04/2017 22:50

I also came off heroin with no medical help, it is definately possible, however I certainly wasn't capable of the things claimed by the poster in question in the time frame she gave when I did it, and don't tend to mix up my 'clean time'...

GoatLePew · 27/04/2017 23:01

Didn't see that particular one but I'd say that recently around 60-70% of threads here, in Relationships at least, are fakes made by trolls.

PickAChew · 27/04/2017 23:03

The timings did make me double blink.

1st thought: wow.

2nd thought; er wow?

Final thought: Hope you don't become one of those people working with and for people who has the attitude that anyone who is getting it at all wrong simply isn't trying hard enough.

I clicked and moved on before expressing that thought.

bluetongue · 27/04/2017 23:04

I missed that thread but I'm wary of many more threads since the awful troll about the young boy who tried to kill himself. I was totally sucked in and so many posters shared really personal stories.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/04/2017 23:06

Crow. Star. Flowers

WayfaringStranger · 27/04/2017 23:11

Wow Crowd, she sounds...erm not very clued up on ethics and values in social work. I can't bear the snobbery and I'm grateful we don't have it in my team. We have some highly skilled and experienced workers who aren't social workers but are probably more capable than me and I go to them all the time for advice.

Beeziekn33ze · 27/04/2017 23:22

Wayfarer - I wondered whether she had metamorphosed into the elegant delicately mannered soul. That's the one who is told at interviews that she's perfect to be a primary school teacher (!!) but has decided to be a lawyer instead ...

Beeziekn33ze · 27/04/2017 23:22

As you do!

Hairyfairy01 · 28/04/2017 01:01

You could get a degree from the Open university even without any previous education in 3 years if your motivated enough. Not easy (or cheap) though. Or a 1 year full time access course plus 3 year degree? I hope it's true.

BillSykesDog · 28/04/2017 01:09

She could actually have done it in those time scales. One year access course and three year degree. 4 years.

BillSykesDog · 28/04/2017 01:09

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/04/2017 01:24

The thing is though. To give her which we're all entitled to the benefit of the doubt. The poor women might have been telling the truth. Who are we to say otherwise.

WayfaringStranger · 28/04/2017 09:07

You can't do a social work degree without 200 days on placement. They have to be in a minimum of 2 different settings.

To be fair, I didn't read the thread so don't know if it's true or not.

floraeasy · 28/04/2017 10:02

Crowdblundering Well done Star thanks for giving me happy news I can believe in!
