To think if you've paid £200 for concert tickets you should actually be able to GET them

Name changed to an old name as this is quite identifying!

Bought tickets for DF's birthday to go to a concert this weekend. They cost over £200.

DM and DF decided to go to London for an extra night before and after the concert, booked train tickets, hotels etc. The gig is Friday. Train leaves early tomorrow morning.

Except the blasted tickets still aren't here. We've spoken to the ticket company. Apparently this is an antifraud measure. There's no way they can be reissued. No way they can get them at the venue. New tickets can't be sent to their hotel. The only way they can get these tickets is to wait at my house all day tomorrow in the hope the postman comes, then get a later (more expensive) train to London.

AIBU to think this is ridiculous? Surely it's not that unusual for people to extend a trip to London by a few days and the company could have sent them out earlier? Or reissued the tickets so mum and dad could get them at the door? It's a seated concert so no risk of us selling on the originals.

Happened to us with F1 tickets last year. They eventually arrived on the morning we were driving down to Silverstone. If your campsite opens Wednesday then, funnily enough, some people will want to arrive on Wednesday!

They should definitely allow you to pick up on the door though.

TicketMaster:

We regret that we're unable to replace tickets that are for an unreserved level of access. This includes General Admission, Standing and Unreserved Seating tickets. This is unfortunate and we would like to express our sympathy should you find yourself in a situation where your tickets have been misplaced.

Thank you all. We're giving the post lady until 11am then will call the palladium.

Good luck! I'm sure it will be fine.

lolalament · 26/04/2017 22:22

See Tickets act as the telephone box office for The Palladium, so you won't be able to call the venue directly.

YoniFucker · 26/04/2017 22:24

My dad has already headed off on their prebooked train. My mum's stayed with me to wait for the tickets. So annoying.

Not necessarily, I have before in the exact same circumstances.

lolalament · 26/04/2017 22:31

No, @TheFlis you've phoned See. They can answer as The Palladium because they are the telephone version. There are no public numbers for the actual box office for the theatre.

TheFlis12345 · 27/04/2017 11:07

Actually I went to the box office at the Palladium and they sorted it, I didn't speak to see.

Bob is a bit rubbish live though; never fails to disappoint actually.

So sorry that See are being so bloody awkward for you OP. I've had several problems with them in the past due to tickets not arriving in good time.

They're talking crap when they say that tickets can't be reprinted and picked up at the box office, seated tickets that is. It may mean your parents taking your credit or debit card which you booked the tickets with, the order conformation and I know that in the past they've also asked for a letter of authorisation from the purchaser if they're not in attendance. It's always been said that GA tickets can't be reprinted, hence why they recommend signed for delivery for those, but if you have allocated seating booked then it should be no problem. If the original tickets have fallen into the wrong hands and two people turn up for the same seat then it should be easy to check who it is who should be sitting there.

They're utter bastards, so quick to take money many months in advance and charge ridiculous service charges yet can't be arsed when something goes wrong.

lolalament · 27/04/2017 12:26

Ok, @TheFlis, you didn't phone them then. Which is because you can't phone the box office directly, as I said.

Update: tickets arrived in this morning's post. My mum hugged the postman Grin. She got a later train to London and has just caught up with my dad to go to a show tonight. I'm still pissed off that they're out of pocket and it's been stressful for them but at least they can go to the gig.

Haha. Yes. This is why I've sent DM with him this time. I've seen him a few times and it's a bit hit and miss.
