Not an aibu, posting here for traffic. Thinking of going to London in September on our honeymoon. Looking for suggestions for a fancy pants hotel(central if possible) and some ideas for places to go, things to see etc..

The Mondrian hotel is fab with a great river location and amazing cocktail bar.

I love the Little Social or anywhere by Jason Atherton. Check out a couple of museums or galleries, especially if you can get a guided tour. Walking tours ( there are loads) are a fascinating way to see less known parts of London. Working out a decent day of walking, sightseeing and using public transport is pretty easy using a map with places of interest marked out.

Beware the tourist shit...Madam Tussauds etc are pretty crap compared with some of the amazing stuff. Westminster Abbey is unbelievably historic and interesting with an excellent audio guide.

A river trip is another great way of seeing lots whilst sitting.

I love London. If you post the kind of things you like best plus number of days we can help even more.

I've just remembered another hotel - with a difference! Another MNer stayed there last year, or the year previously?

The Sunborn Yacht Hotel www.sunbornhotels.com/london/ which is a large boat on the river. Again, not central central, but IIRC she said it was a fabulously different type of hotel - and not too far to get around in central London easily.

It's right by the DLR as well Fru, which takes you straight to Tower Bridge - so easy transport. Hope to stay there soon!

Even though I live in London, ajandjjmum, I was so tempted to book a night (or two) on the Sunborn for a 'significant occasion' a while back. We didn't do it in the end - but I'm damn well going to go and stay on it in the not too distant future Grin

Hazlitt's hotel is lovely - like you're staying in an old Georgian town house.

Just down the road is the Soho theatre, which used to do amazing stand up comedy - haven't been in ages but I saw some amazing acts there.

Sky Garden is definitely worth it for a big occasion like a honeymoon.

It is a gorgeous city!

Thanks a million everyone for all the suggestions!! You people are the best!!

Note to bibbity: as fru pointed out I didn't want the thread to disappear. I'm very sorry to have upset your sensibilities, you clearly have little else to upset you if something so trivial managed to. Report it if you think it's necessary, no need to be a bitchSmile

Matilda thank you!! We're thinking 4 days, I love all the touristy stuff, I'm dying to see Buckingham palace, the Tower of London, Westminster... Little bit of shopping, lots of sightseeing and something romantic and indulgent!!

Once you've done everything else on your long list, maybe try a tour - Jack the Ripper, ghost tour, Sherlock Holmes your etc. They're a couple of hours and again a good way to see some of london.

Plus borough market, bars along the Regents Canal.
