Urgent urgent help needed. Bathroom door has locked itself.

It's not a key lock, it's one of those where you turn a knob on the inside. It has somehow locked itself. I was polishing the door handles earlier (never again am I cleaning).
I've already pee-d on myself as I left it until the ads of a film to go to the toilet.
It's also the time of the month where you need access to a bathroom.
Please help me?

From the outside, it looks like an allan (?) key might turn something in it but I don't possess one.

I have a screwdriver. Would removing the door handle this side be of any help to me?

Glad you are in . No more cleaning !!

Seeingadistance · 22/04/2017 23:10

Phew!

scottishdiem · 22/04/2017 23:10

Side note - Sky/Virgin/Some freeview boxes have a pause button. Use that when needing a pee. And then fast forward through the ads.

myoriginal3 · 22/04/2017 23:12

Hah - I have a good excuse now lol.

FFS, someone has put a curse on me I think. My wallet was stolen on Wednesday.

Anyway, nobody died thank God.

Isn't it the simplest of things that you take for granted!

I love a happy ending!

Livness12 · 22/04/2017 23:16

Aww. My twin locked himself in the bathroom accidentally about 5 years ago (I have no idea how he managed to break the lock so badly).

His grand plan was to climb out of the window and get down to the ground somehow. Hmm. We broke the door off the hinges in the end. And then my bemused dad (who was in Austria skiing on holiday) had a phone call from his beloved children 'Ok we may have had to take the bathroom door off...'

myoriginal3 · 22/04/2017 23:17

Now I've missed half the film but will bear in mind the pause function if I can find it in the future lol.

God I love mumsnet.

I've never head of someone being locked out of a bathroom before! All's well that ends well, OP!

Glad you got in. My old house had a lock like that which could be opened from the outside with a pencil or similar jammed into it. When I was 16 ish, I was in the shower, door locked, nobody else in the house. I was facing the door when, to my absolute horror, I saw the lock turning round Shock thankfully it was just my boyfriend who had let himself into the house and thought it would be funny to 'surprise' me in this way. It was horrible though, what an absolute arse.

scottishdiem · 22/04/2017 23:36

Depending on what channel its on there could be a +1 channel which is the same content, but an hour later.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 22/04/2017 23:41

glad you got in for your wee....

if you have sky plus and haven't switched channels it may have recorded the film from the beginning, just because it can, so you can wind it back and pick up where you left off.

or is there a +1 channel??
or if you press record it should save it from the beginning, again, provided you haven't switched over or anything...then go into lanner, find it and fast forward to where you left off.

PickAChew · 22/04/2017 23:42

Hah! We deliberately fitted a lock which could be opened from outside with a coin when DS1 went through a phase of locking himself in as a 5 year old. Came in very handy when DS2 went through a phase of going into the bathroom and spraying the shower all over.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 22/04/2017 23:42

**planner, not lanner.

I have bits of lindt bunny clogging my keyboard.

myoriginal3 · 22/04/2017 23:58

I just have freeview so I doubt it can do anything sexy but I shall explore.

Didn't you have a man to ask advice from? Grin

myoriginal3 · 23/04/2017 10:44

Haha - a man would probably have brought out a cango, drill and saw to resolve the problem. Grin

Our bathroom & toilet have the locks with the tiny hole on the outside. At the moment our autistic son is going through a period of opening all the doors (and then messing around with what he finds) so the doors are permanently locked, and we keep a knitting needle on top of the door frame to unlock when required!

Tulipsaregold · 23/04/2017 12:12

phew thats saved you from a bucket of cat litter Grin
