Over the last year, various "internet of things" devices have found their way into this house (not my idea!) and one by one they have all malfunctioned, failed to talk to other smart things or just plain smashed to pieces (£90 smart bathroom scales Angry)

There seem to be so many devices and apps competing for my time and attention and I find it all unhelpful, expensive and unnecessary.

Am I just an old gimmer?

noblegiraffe which ones are insecure though?

Our Fire and alarm systems are surely secure?

I did have a couple of teens hack my Fitbit once - it was years ago on the bus and it was actually quite funny as all they did was up my steps to an impossible number and the flights of stairs to like 600. I know they did it because they called my name out from the back of the bus and I turned around and looked at them and thought I must have mis-heard. After that I changed all gadgets (and DCs gadgets) to not broadcast Bluetooth or hotspots in our names. (They are all named after famous painters!)
