Any doctors about or anyone with experience?

Daughter woke up today with the obvious rash. I'm so worried what it could do to my baby.

I know I have had it before, so that reduces the risks.

Yes that's right mother will pass her immunity on to baby and OP has said she has had chicken pox in original post

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 22/04/2017 20:05

OP isn't sure she is immune. If she is then there's no problem.

PeaFaceMcgee - yes defo tested in booking in bloods. They must test for different things in different areas?

NotAnotherUserName 5 - good shout to get your bloods checked. Fingers crossed you are immune. xx

OP said 'I know I have had it before, so that reduces the risks.'

Bumplovin · 22/04/2017 20:37

Glad u are getting bloods op try not to worry tho. I know someone who is pregnant and her little boy has chicken pox currently just so u know her gp told her as she had had it as a child there was no concern

Ta1kinPeace · 22/04/2017 20:46

OP
be careful and follow any and every bit of advice
impact of chicken pox is very rare
but having seen a kid with it, potentially severe
(and yes, I do mean CP as against rubella)

on the other hand the child I know always inspired me

FreedomMummy · 22/04/2017 21:15

Glad you've had them test your blood as my DD had chicken pox when I was pregnant with DS and it turned out I wasn't immune so had to have the vaccination. Hope it all turns out ok for you OP.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 23/04/2017 04:37

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Just to clarify, I did have chicken pox in utero and was subsequently born with a few spots.
So this is what's raised doubts over my immunity.
The midwife couldn't say if this would have created immunity.

Freedom mummy-did the vaccine prevent you getting CP?

If you catch chicken pox in your first trimester this is bad for the baby (think they often recommend termination) If you are exposed to it in the few days before birth also bad as baby can get it. Otherwise nothing to worry about :) Obviously if you go into labour in the next week or if anyone else in the family gets it closer to the time please tell them!

FreedomMummy · 24/04/2017 13:16

Sorry haven't been on for a couple of days.

NotAnotherUserMane5 yes the vaccine prevented me from catching CP.

Hope you're all doing ok.

FreedomMummy · 24/04/2017 13:17

Sorry totally mis-spelt your username!!

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 24/04/2017 13:21

My mum had shingles when she was pregnant with me.

I have never had chicken pox, but do have immunity to it (was tested as a precautionary measure when I was exposed during pregnancy with DS2).

It's good that they are doing a test, but please try not to worry too much - chances are you'll be fine.

Babbaganush · 24/04/2017 13:22

Glad to hear they are testing your immunity.
My dd had chicken pox when I was 36 weeks, I wasn't too concerned as I had a really bad case of chicken pox when I was 10 but my gp insisted on checking my immunity - turns out I had no immunity at all so I had to have immunoglobulin and antibodies.

butterfly990 · 24/04/2017 16:01

My DD aged 2 at the time came out with CPox the day I went into Labor.

The hospital advised me to try and keep DD away from the baby however that was near impossible.

I breast fed DS and he did not catch Cpox. My eldest DD came out in spots about a week later.

Hope everything goes well for you!
