To go ( on mini break) or not to go.

It's a WWYD.

Have a little spare money this month ( rare occasion). We could afford a weekend away this bank holiday. Need to take dogs and 2DC's. I love going away and I don't mind the work involved making sure everyone has a good time.

We can book a small cottage by the sea or a luxuary caravan on a family park, both about 80 miles from where we live. Both ideas would work well for what my children ( and dogs) like doing.

But if we go away I'll need to take the food and cook / make picnics to keep it affordable and maybe not pay for any extra activities / entry fees.

Or, we could stay at home. Make sure the house work work is up to date and spend the accommodation budget on activities available near by like carting and tree top climbing. We could have lunch and dinner out and still get to the beach as we only live about 20 minutes from the coast any way.

No driving, no sitting in at night because eating out can get pricey but can I really get the family into the holiday spirit without leaving my own front door?

Go Karting

I'd go away. You can muck about on the beach, explore the area and have a fantastic break without paying to do actual 'things'. As for meals, in the evenings, ours loved having everything plonked on a worktop and they could help themselves - so bread, cheese, salad, ham, tuna mayo, dips etc in a kind of buffet. They're all adults now, but still ask to do this sometimes!

I vote for staying at home and having days out. We've done both and the kids loved having a holiday at home
