To wish posters would use full stops and commas in their OP's?!

I've just read another thread in which I've had to read the first post twice to understand what the OP is saying. Why do people think this is ok if they are asking for other comments or posts?!

OP posts:

I wish people would learn how to use bold or italics to emphasise that they have quoted someone else...

Why not start a thread to educate MN?

Orlantina · 21/04/2017 17:49

It's not great to use both an exclamation mark and a question mark

There's a word for that:

A very useful symbol!

Too right I'm a lazy poster. I'm crap at typing too. Plus it's Friday and I expect my typing will get worse as the night goes on. Wine

Didn't we have this thread the other day?

I've just read another thread in which I've had to read the first post twice to understand what the OP is saying.. If this sentence was not so badly structured I would agree

I stop reading posts where the punctuation makes it impossible to work out what is meant. We all make small mistakes or have autocorrect add the odd grocer's apostrophe and they're easily overlooked but I've seen quite a few OPs where there has been absolutely no use full stops or capitals, which for someone like me makes reading and understanding the post very difficult if not impossible.

I'm pedantic about grammar and punctuation but not everyone has had a great education and predictive text has a lot to answer for. And YABVU as you've misused an apostrophe in your post title!

Nicole69 · 21/04/2017 18:13

I'm very, very pedantic about punctuation and spelling, but understand that not everyone is. I can cope with punctuation and grammar being incorrect ;-)

What makes reading some posts very difficult, though, is lack of paragraphs. It can make a long post very difficult to read. I have to highlight chunks to make it easier for myself.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 21/04/2017 18:13

Don't we have a pedants corner round here somewhere...? Hmm

HappenedForAReisling · 21/04/2017 18:22

If only you were as accepting of other people's grammatical errors as you are of your own, OP...
