AIBU to be thoroughly pissed off & frustrated that I have broken my arm?! Fortunately it's not my dominant arm however it's a complicated break so I've been signed off work for 2 months, I'm in pain or uncomfortable, I've spent 3 days in hospital the past week, everything takes 10 times longer to do or I panic I'm damaging my wrist arm more. And the biggy is that I have a 2yr old I am now having to negotiate with constantly and 2 older boys who go to school 45 mins up the hill. Confused Any words of wisdom or tips to help me survive PLEASE?!

Oh, and don't try do your own hair all the time. Make a weekly appointment and go to the hairdresser, as they will make a better job of it, and you'll feel pampered and on top of the world afterwards.

And don't worry about feeling a bit down from time to time. It's only natural to feel sorry for yourself when you are in pain, everything is difficult and you have to rely on others for so many things. I cried regularly for the first month, I think. Still do now, occasionally, as I come to terms with the fact that I'll never have normal movement in my arm again.

Is your DH a bit dim?! How exactly did he think you'd be able to whip up a dinner in top of doing childcare with a broken and painful arm?

I suggest making up a large flask of coffee - easy to carry around without spilling. Grip it with your thighs and use good hand to undo the top.

Online food shopping - Ocado will deliver right to your kitchen.

Oh and have my hugest sympathy it sounds bloody awful :-(

YY to Ocado for shopping.

Get a lot of ready meals, also things like prepared mashed potato and have with ready made pies, quiche and salad is easy too. They do large bags of frozen risotto too, just dump in a pan and heat through.

I kept a pair of sturdy kitchen tongs handy for reaching things, so that I didn't have to twist awkwardly.

Thank you everyone. I had a good cry this morning, especially after I tried getting in to my bra by pulling it over my bum and realised my bums too big!! Friends and family are helping with the children today and tomorrow and someone's bringing me a buggy which I can hopefully push one handed. And I've booked in for a wax! I'll order a cover for my arm and the husband already does most of the shopping and cooking. I feel a lot better. Thank you. My real remaining challenge is putting my hair up in clips or a ponytail?!

Can one of the older children not help you with your hair? It only takes moments! Or get DH to plait it for you each evening?

You are sure to have tearful moments through the coming weeks, but mop them up, treat yourself to a cheering bit of chocolate and do your best to cope. Thanks
