DD1(5) was out with her nanna and grandad today ,she recently had chickenpox so although not contagious still has some spots.
She said she was playing and a girl called her ugly.

All we can really do is encourage our own kids to be kind and not to bully - and boost their self-esteem enough to minimize the hurt bullies cause them.
Oh, and experiment with voodoo dolls of the kids that are unkind to our own, of course

pmsl madamez! got any spare...?

katelyle · 11/03/2007 20:00

Thank you charlotte. She has history with this child. When she they were in year 4, she was so horrible to dd that I wanted to smack her, but it was never anything you could report to teachers - just a constant drip drip drip of self esteem undermining. Coincidentally, dd was given a little doll which looked quite like the other child, so when it was particularly bad dd used to drown the doll in the bath! Very theraputic!

Lots of the examples on here are of parents who react like toddlers themselves when faced with toddler behaviour. And I'm another one. Remembering who is the grown up is one of the hardest jobs of parenting. I'm told that when dd hits her teens I will suddenly find myself in touch with my inner teenager as well...oh joy.

When ds1 was a few weeks old, dh had a photographer at the house to do photos for work. Photographer said my beautiful first born looked like an alien. That was 10 years ago and I still haven't forgiven him

JustJoinedRightNow · 02/08/2022 09:27

It’s Abbie with all the xxxx around her name. She’s done it heaps today. Annoying
