To think 'scarification' just sounds awful??

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4418110/Countryfile-presenter-Ellie-Harrison-reveals-arm-scars.html

Countryfile presenter had her arm scarred as an offering to her parter of 10 years? Confused

My DH says it's not unlike getting a tattoo... but this article makes her sound a bit crazy.

Another one who thought this was a gardening thread ...

Instasista · 17/04/2017 17:40

She sounds scary Shock

harderandharder2breathe · 17/04/2017 17:40

cao I thought that too

Teabagtits · 17/04/2017 17:41

I had a creepy stalker who did this to "honour" me. Before that I thought of t as just another means of body modification but it got me thinking you have to be a bit odd to do that as the way it turns out is less reliable than eg tattoos

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 17/04/2017 17:43

She sounds unhinged in the way she describes it. Never mind whether or not scarification is a good thing.

Tbh, it basically looks as if she leant against something and it left an imprint on her arm, like the time DS sat on the wicker laundry basket with no pants on... Hmm If that was DH's "great offering" to me, I'd be fundamentally unimpressed.

Rainydayspending · 17/04/2017 17:50

Heard of it bdsm terms. I guess she's a sub.

ChrissyHynde · 17/04/2017 17:53

I scarify the garden .... wrong idea!

PerspicaciaTick · 17/04/2017 17:53

What about someone like Sacha Dhawan?

PerspicaciaTick · 17/04/2017 17:53

Oops sorry - wrong thread. Not sure how that happened.

ArriettyClock1 · 17/04/2017 17:57

I came on to say we have just had our lawn scarified. Blush

I read that article - she sounds a bit unhinged. Think my dh would have me certified if I did this 'for him'.

Amockingjayhey · 17/04/2017 18:01

As an offering... That's freaky.
But scarification in itself i think is gorgeous

carabos · 17/04/2017 18:01

The story has been across a lot of media. I thought it was horrific and can't believe she thought her doctor partner would like it Shock. She's bonkers.

Amammi · 18/04/2017 16:46

It looks like she slept on some Lego. It's her body so I suppose it's her choice but it all comes across as very unhinged.

VestalVirgin · 18/04/2017 17:45

The way she frames her early drinking as being caused by growing up in the countryside - definitely unhinged.

Modifying her body as an "offering" to her partner, who wasn't asked ... also rather creepy.

And then it does indeed look like a row of cigarette burns. She needs help.

Scarification sounds awful, but not much worse than tattoos. (Considering that some tattoo colours are suspected of causing cancer, perhaps scarification is even safer.)

Jesus Christ. Why did I google?

I'm with some of the other pp- I'm pretty sure this wasn't what I studied when we did scarification as part of our agriculture module in A-level geography!

redshoeblueshoe · 18/04/2017 19:17

I do scarification. I have an electric machine.

It vastly improves my lawn
