That's within 15 mins of a major city. Is this just dreaming. Bournemouth would be ideal. Theres lots of bungalows that need a referb for the price, but they are too close to the neighbours for my liking - barely detached

Sorry. Cross post op! What do you mean by "too out there?" As in to far west? X

Maybe parkstone is the answer? These do look pretty good.

Exeter as a place has everything, it's just a bit too west. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad. It's just going to double the journey times i often have to do and don't know anyone in the area. But apart from the location it ticks everything

Yep exactly that too west, but i shouldn't rule it out i guess as it is lovely and close to exmore.

Ha everytime i see something idea around Bournemouth and in budget it's on the isle of Wight...grrr

Out of the top 3 I'd go for the 3rd one. I used to live a few roads away from there and you don't notice the road noise. The school 5mins from there has just reopened and has an outstanding ofsted (Jewell Academy) but as it's new only goes upto year 3 at the moment I think.

The school by the other 2 is good (Bethany) but the area is a bit rundown.

Brexit - first two I would say no because of area.

Third one good area, not far from town centre backs onto a cemetery though!

Fourth one probably a no again due to area!

Both the ones you're looking at in parkstone are nice, but Herbert Avenue that they both come off is a NIGHTMARE. So is alder road. Traffic literal crawls at slower than walking pace during rush hour and is a main route to a few schools so always busy.

Didn't see 4 properties on the first link!!

The vickers close one is good.

I've just bought exactly that - although the garden is fairly small - in one of the popular parts of Waterlooville, for £260k. Good transport links.

We wanted to stay in our current rural town a little further up, but we couldn't get a 2 bed shack for less than £300k.

Nothing wrong with Southampton - for detached I'd say you're looking at £350k+ in a nice area

You won't get a detached in Westbourne or southbourne for 300k.

Some of the worse areas of Bournemouth you could- boscombe, winton, kinson

But the latter two are pretty much Poole and further away from the sea.

I would seriously look at Poole, there are some lovely areas! Upton is nice, hamworthy, parkstone, into broadstone maybe. Avoid Turlin moor probably, don't know first hand but hear bad things. But then again you get that everywhere!

Agree with PP re Alder Hills, AVOID! traffic is a pain in the ass.

Yes I'm looking with a similar budget Smile

Portsmouth would be reasonable for this price (and there are some lovely areas like Drayton, Copnor etc)

About 25 minutes from Bournemouth. But a lot better value for your money
