Upset over a portion of egg fried rice (lighthearted-ish)

DH wanted to order Chinese for dinner. I would have preferred chip shop chips, but he really wanted Chinese. So I ask for sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice. When the food arrived there was no rice. DH had forgotten to order it. So now I'm eating plain boiled rice that I've cooked myself and silently grumping because I don't want to have an argument over rice. But it's fucking noticeable that he's got exactly what he wanted to eat and I don't Angry

So AIBU to be cross about the lack of egg fried rice? And WIBU to make him go to the chip shop for the chips he talked me out of with the promise of the aforementioned rice?

But home made egg fried rice just does not taste like a take out fried rice.
But by the time you'd made plain boiled rice, could he have been back to the Chinese and back? Or was he really not bothered?

ChickenVindaloo2 · 15/04/2017 21:26

Is this row symptom of something else? Do you think he always gets what he wants at the expense of your needs/desires?

BareBum · 15/04/2017 21:26

He's made you have house rice?

Crinkle77 · 15/04/2017 21:31

I am with Nightsky & Threefish home made fried rice is not the same as what you get at the Chinese. Plus the whole point of getting a take away is that you don't have to do any cooking or washing up. Yes I insisted he go back.

GabsAlot · 15/04/2017 21:36

we dont get free rice with our mains down here

my dh thought i was joking when he first moved down-its very rare anyway

but yes id send him out to get chippy chips

Inertia · 15/04/2017 21:37

DH would have offered to go back.

Being a martyr only punishes you.

highinthesky · 15/04/2017 21:41

Give him Weetabix for dinner for the next 3 nights.

He won't foget to order your fried rice again.

Frouby · 15/04/2017 21:43

He's a cunt. Ltb.

I would have at least sent him to the shop for uncle bens rice. Fucker.

I am irrational tho and get hangry. The love of my life ( at the tender age of 20) said iwbu re a sunday lunch in a pub once and I ltb. He was a good bet too. Own house, car, steady job and decent pension with a biggish willy.

Fucker didn't understand the importance of mash potatoes AND roast potatoes on a Sunday roast tho.

AnArrowToTheKnee · 15/04/2017 21:44

He's not going to get me chips, but he did take over the kids bedtimes and got me tea and biscuits. And I have sole control of the tv remote tonight Grin

As ChickenVindaloo.says, is this part of a pattern? Is he very insistent on always getting his choice of takeaway, or sulking if he doesn't?

Armi · 15/04/2017 21:46

Unforgivable.

My DH once announced via text that we were all set to have Chinese that evening. I was very excited as we live in the sticks and NEVER have takeaway. Imagine my response when DH arrived home with two packets of horrible supermarket faux-Chinese takeaway slop looking all pleased with himself.

He has never made that mistake again.

MusicToMyEars800 · 15/04/2017 21:52

my OH ordered a dominos for us once and got the stuffed crust wrong!! I love the cheese stuffed crust and dunking that in the garlic and herb dip is the highlight of the pizza for me.... he ordered hot dog stuffed crust, I really do not like hot dogs, I had the right hump on for half the night, he was apologetic and it has never happened again Grin

greylove · 15/04/2017 21:53

Could be worse My DH ate my lunch chicken mayo baguette with bacon sprinkles
I had two bites go to feed baby Girl come back none left 4 me

ShelaghTurner · 15/04/2017 22:39

I may have had this very argument over a portion of onion rings. Several times. He doesn't forget now.

zukiecat · 15/04/2017 22:56

I had the opposite problem OP

DDs and I ordered a Chinese, and they sent three portions of egg fried rice, I hate fried rice of any kind,

Boiled rice is the only way to go!

Crispbutty · 15/04/2017 23:30

I can promise the secret of making home made egg fried rice taste as good if not better than the takeaway is to add soy sauce as well as egg. I sometimes put finely chopped spring onion in too.

ShowMeWhatYouGot · 16/04/2017 08:04

I rather embarrassingly once fell out with my OH over a battered sausage Blush

Food brings out the worst in me!

AnArrowToTheKnee · 16/04/2017 09:00

He can be stubborn about takeaways, but it's laziness more than anything. He'd rather get something delivered than walk to the chippy. He also prefers to order in if I'm not cooking - he's capable of cooking, just can't be bothered. It's led to more than a few "discussions" about how I don't want to cook every sodding night and how much money he spends on takeaway.
