Dp is essentially a good guy. Sometimes we struggle to get on but on the whole he is kind and caring. My issue is with his attitude to drink. He doesn't drink all the time, mostly during the week we won't drink at all, and some weekends too. However sometimes he'll go out and get so shitfaced he doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't seem to have an off button. This will be maybe once every month - month and a half or so so not all the time, but I really hate it. He slurs, falls over, throws up and often starts being horrible to me. He's always sorry the next day, but essentially doesn't see an issue with it as it's not all the time and he's just having fun. My point is I'm afraid to go to the pub with him in case he gets in this state, others have commented on it and he's really not nice to be around. He thinks I'm unreasonable, so I'm not sure! No dc to look after, just us. aibu?

I have zero tolerance for people who get drunk to the point of oblivion. I just can't bear to be around them. I ended a long co-habiting relationship in my 20s with a man who got drunk as a skunk on precisely two occasions. I hear on the grapevine that he gave up alcohol after that and afaik, has been teetotal ever since.

You don't have to put up with it op! It is not fun, it is stupid and embarrassing at his age. I cringe for him.

Personally I couldn't have a relationship with someone who drinks to excess. I am t total more or less with the exception of the odd cider. If he doesn't change get rid! Life is too short to put up with this nonsense even if it is once a month. Flowers

My DH is horrendous when drunk and i about going out drinking with him. He gets so loud and obnoxious (I think anyway). Others seen to find him funny but I seriously can't stand it. Not the same situation as you but similar as in I now can't go out for a drink with him and pray he comes back after I'm in bed if he's out.
