To think even the most hardened brexiter can't get a year in their eye from a balanced viewpoint

Very balanced imo. It's just all so sad, all the advancements in science, technology and not to mention peace ☮️. Binned due to a few billionaires persuading people to vote for something that is not in their interest and fake bus adverts. This has set me off again today :(

I watched mainly the BBC news and it's world renowned for its quality, so no not biased. Unlike many others.

Yes i agree that there are other factors at play with most well educated people voting to remain and i in no way said more intelligent people went to uni. Just that they went to uni, one of the most intelligent people i know is a school dropout.

OP, do you seriously think that the vast majority of people in the North and Wales don't know what they are talking about politically?

brexitstolemyfuture · 14/04/2017 20:05

Of course not. But BBC news did get a constant stream of clearly clueless brexiters. I'm just extrapolating from the sample.

Extrapolating what, if you don't believe it to be true?

I am finding it hard to understand what your point is.

wasonthelist · 14/04/2017 20:14

It is a known statistic that most people that attended university were remainders.
No it fucking isn't.

The only way that could be a "known statistic" would be if we knew (for certain) -
a) The actual educational achievement of every single person who voted in the referendum and
b) How they voted.

Since it was a secret ballot and as far as I know, the electoral roll doesn't have your education details on, all we know is that a very small subset of people, when asked by pollsters how they voted and whether they had been to University, answered in a way that the pollsters considered was statistically significant and they extrapolated it. That's not a fact, it's a theory.

RortyCrankle · 14/04/2017 20:36

I have tears over Brexit - tears of fucking joy that Leave won and the more Remainers moan and whine and cry, the harder I want Brexit to be Grin

Livelovebehappy · 14/04/2017 20:39

I went to Uni and voted Leave, and I can assure you I knew exactly what I was doing, as did my brother, who is a teacher, and my next door neighbour who is an accountant, both of whom voted leave. And your assumption that leave voters are mainly uneducated doesn't stand up when you consider the majority of Londoners voted Remain, when it has to be said large parts of our capital city are full of people who are poor and uneducated. And btw; it's 'remainers' not 'remainders'.

Wando1986 · 14/04/2017 20:39

Oh, do please be quiet, OP. You're just boring us all now.

Toadinthehole · 14/04/2017 20:42

Leave voters are generally older, and therefore less likely to have attended university not because they are more stupid, but because university places were very limited. In 1979 1 in 16 school leavers went to university.

Whether or not that makes older people less informed or worse at critical thinking really depends on what they did instead of going to university.

That's to say nothing of life experience, which hopefully we all get as we get older.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 14/04/2017 20:46

The pp's that are getting hostile, are you saying had remain won, and then gone for a hard remain i.e the euro, shengen etc. you wouldnt have bitched and moaned about it? Hmm

brexitstolemyfuture · 14/04/2017 20:49

And your assumption that leave voters are mainly uneducated doesn't stand up when you consider the majority of Londoners voted Remain, when it has to be said large parts of our capital city are full of people who are poor and uneducated.
Poppy cock. The large parts of the capital with the poor and uneducated people are unlikely to have even registered or voted.

OP posts:
almondpudding · 14/04/2017 20:51

OP. can you please explain what you are trying to say?

Who is it that you think does not have a clue what they are talking about?

Livelovebehappy · 14/04/2017 20:55

Ah OP; which is it then? The poor and uneducated people voted to Leave, or the poor and uneducated people didn't bother to vote at all? Seems a bit of a contradiction going on.

brexitstolemyfuture · 14/04/2017 21:00

The people who thought EU funding would continue if they voted to brexit.

The poor in London are very different to the poor in the north and Wales and that's why these poor northern disenfranchised folk were targeted by hawks such as farrage.

OP posts:
almondpudding · 14/04/2017 21:03

Why are the North or Wales relevant here?

The Midlands and the South West both voted leave in greater proportions than either the North or Wales.

What is it particularly about the poor of the North or Wales that marks them out as different?

Livelovebehappy · 14/04/2017 21:05

You're just talking nonsense now OP. Poor is poor; regardless of which part of the UK you come from.

scaryteacher · 14/04/2017 21:09

My home in the UK is in Cornwall, although we are currently very very near Brussels for dh's (non EU) job. We are both Postgrads, dh has Chartered Engineer status, and we both voted Leave.

glenthebattleostrich · 14/04/2017 21:17

The BBC has been repeatedly shown to be biased, so perhaps it's time to broaden your horizons.

And i keep asking this on these threads. How much time did you spend doing independent research such as reading reports on the EU website, or are your views based on reports in the media?

wasonthelist · 14/04/2017 21:20

The people who thought EU funding would continue if they voted to brexit.
What "people"? One person you claim was interviewed on TV?

BTW I voted leave despite being far from poor and having been to University in the (very) early 80s.

Yorkshirebetty · 14/04/2017 21:22

Most people voting leave didn't have a clue? How patronising. You cannot say that about millions of people.

wasonthelist · 14/04/2017 21:23

The poor in London are very different to the poor in the north and Wales How?
