.. to have still cooked the lasagne?

Very proud of myself to have thrown together a huge lasagne from scratch while also working from home. Freshly cooked bechemel sauce, homecooked sauce .. I was putting on the final layer of pasta sheets ready for the oven and noticed 2 of those bloody tiny wheat mites crawling on them!!!

So there was already a layer of pasta sheets (from the same box) in the middle of the lasagne -and it would have been ruined if I had to have dug them out-

So ..... what would you have done?

I know this is so gross.

I'd probably have eaten it too, a bit cautiously! But i'm DEFIANTELY going to pull the cupboard apart too looking for flour mites. I'm not worried, but I am curious!

In Egypt we used to serve the insects out of pasta and rice and continue our cooking.

I'd eat with you as well tonight, sounds amazing x

I would eat it definitely, hideous amount of waste over a couple of tiny, well cooked bugs that won't make you ill...

I have a friend who picked a tick off the dog and put it on the garden table, forgot about it. Her mother, at lunch, thought it was a sunflower seed from her salad and ate it Shockmany kinds of wrong there.

Thinking about it rationally, it's just a couple of tiny dead bugs, mixed in with a whole load of dead cow.

You're completely right Serin GrinGrinGrin

We are all too precious for our own good!

Little tummies already full of lasagne- what's not to enjoy?
No I would not.

PS I once peeled off a toenail and left it on a plate and my ex husband thought it was almond from the cake...he choked.
He was an abuser and had an extra marital affair so are we sorry?

I've had psocids in my cupboards twice, both times they seemed to come from packets of semolina. I'll never forget looking in the bag and seeing the entire contents just... wriggling.

I'm pretty obsessive about putting dried goods in Tupperware now, or at least sealing up the packets with a clip!

I used to audit a place that stored cocoa and coffee - the warehouses absolutely reek, it's pretty much just great big piles and they fumigate it all every so often due to infestations etc. Also as people mentioned there's allowable bug amounts. Should have put me off chocolate but totally hasn't!

The worst we have had is pantry moths. They got into pretty much everything. We went away for a couple of weeks in the summer and came back to an absolute infestation. It took months of obsessive regular cleaning to sort it and I still don't trust anything vaguely cobwebby. Especially after adding breadcrumbs to a burger mix, going to shape and noticing a larvae wriggling in it. Not envy > Envy
