Say what? Surely you'd just chalk this down to normal childhood accidents in a park...

I'm not saying the baby wasn't taken to a private pediatricians.

I'm saying that if a baby was taken to a private pediatrician with paralysis following a head injury the care of that baby would be transferred straight back to the NHS as a potential life threatening emergency. And, the baby would be scanned immediately.

A private pediatrician could not care for that baby with the resources available to them (in London).

tabasco is missing the point.

In the article from the woman's pov it was a few days after the incident that the paralysis was diagnosed by a private medical centre.
Whereas Creating has pointed out that these places cannot diagnose such injuries and the baby would have been taken, via ambulance, to the bearest A&E for scans and tests. The latter did not happen so it seems unlikely. There are also pictures where the baby is in full use of said paralysed hand, after the inury and after the mother had made the claims about paralysis as she, obviously, couldn't mention these facts prior to it happening.

I also don't see the footballer 'smearing' the woman.
One article states he asked to stay in contact but then never heard from her.
One article states he never bothered.

One article states it was a child who had the ball.
One article states it was the footballer.

One article states they apologised and spoke to the mother.
One article states they tried to 'sneak' away (although how much sneaking can a family of 5 do, once they've retrieved their ball?)

The 'smearing' seems to come from one side.

All of the paralysis and medical issues happened before the article was published, which is why the mother can talk about them.
The pictures were taken at the time of the article being published.

The pictures show use of the paralysed hand.

Fine, whatever.

God forbid a celebrity not be allowed to do exactly what they like at all times without consequences. Hmm

I will never understand celebrity worship.

CreatingADream · 12/04/2017 17:15

No celeb worship here (and no I am not his girlfriend, he's not really my type). Not entirely sure how you muddle up tried and tested emergency medical procedure and workflow for celeb worship but never mind.

I think I perfectly reasonable to think that a childhood accident should not become an event where the parents are sued - when I posted this I wasn't aware that there were no balls allowed in the park.

It does make me uneasy when parents start suing other parents for childhood accidents to be honest. If it's successful it's going to open up a whole can of worms for the future.

Do we need public liability insurance for our children now?

Pretty sure the arsehole has plenty of options as to where to kick a ball about. He's a dickhead and deserves all he has coming his way Smile
