And one DC nearly drowns but is luckily saved by another child (child! I didn't even notice til said child told me!)

Other DC takes off on their own despite strict instructions which they completely ignore. Turns out they are no where near as trustworthy/responsible as i thought. Any of them!
Just sinking in how bad a day it really was.

I think I'd throw armbands away and get her swimming so it doesn't matter if she just leaps in. Four is plenty old enough to be a confident swimmer for holiday pool purposes. (Not unsupervised, obviously but 10 feet away is fine if they can swim).

Thanks all Smile I felt like I needed a bit of a kicking last night but you've all been lovely
Yes she does pop in and out of the sauna, especially when she gets out the water for a bit, helps her warm up and dry off a bit. All the children are in and out of it, no one stays in long.
I think i will sort out swimming lessons, she's a very young 4yr old. Dreading her starting school!

I reckon most honest people can give an example of turning their backs for a moment only to see their child getting into a life threatening situation.....won't even mention mine in a multi storey car park!

99.9% of the time the child survives unhurt and you learn and move on.

Glad she is safe

Dont beat yourself up about it

Ds2 nearly drowned on dhs watch...i could see but was too far away and we lost him on a very busy beach in a separate incident he was only about two

Actually now i think about it i am surprised he has made it to 13
