To think this was unnecessary and a little rude?

So I'm at the park with DD and she is playing with another child on the climbing frame. The other child's parent makes eye contact and we start chatting, conversation goes like this:

Woman: "Is she your daughter?"
Me: "yes she is"
Woman: "Are you sure? You look way too young to have a daughter of that age"
Me: "Yes, she is my daughter"
Woman: eyeing me suspiciously How are you still so slim then? Are you sure she is yours?
Me: feeling awkward um.....I have just told you that she is, why do you keep asking me?

Anyone else think this was super weird especially when I literally just said she was my daughter?! Side note: I look fairly young for my age I guess but I am Mid 20s which I consider is not so unreasonable to have a 3 year old daughter?! I get these sort of comments all the time and it makes me feel really awkward Blush

She repeated the question because you repeated the answer and didn't engage at all by asking her anything back or chatting - both of you sound awkward.

I have to say the OP sounds more social awkward than the woman asking the question. No offense, OP. The woman was just being nice to you and perhaps trying to break the ice and be a bit funny.

socially*

Definitely a stealth boast.

ProudBadMum · 10/04/2017 16:54

Yes OP it is you. Next time you see her mention how old she is or something. You know, to be funny....

I'm not socially awkward, I engaged in conversation with her about her child beforehand which prompted her to ask about mine. I only started giving one word answers after she started asking me the same question!

She's a weirdo.

I think she was being nice and joshing you a bit! My friends and I are like this -bit of (horrendous word coming up) banter, dry sense of humour. I suppose it was a pick your audience situation!
