To not want a flat inspection during my holiday...

I rent and have to have flat inspections every 3 months that I really hate but accept. The estate agent wrote to me to say the next inspection is in a few weeks when I'm on annual leave and I will be away seeing my parents. I've emailed the estate agent and they are being difficult about moving it. I hate these inspections at the best of times and have loads on before I go away and I like to clean and tidy before they come but will have limited time to do it. At the last inspection I pointed out an issue with the shower hose that they said they would fix and haven't. I don't have to be there for the inspection but because I'm away I'm worried about someone being in the flat whilst I'm away. Maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily.

gamma they have no right whatsoever to enter the property without the tennants consent unless in an emergency. The tenant does have a right to peaceful enjoyment of their home. It doesn't matter who owns the property the law is very clear on this.

It is a pity that people only stop swallowing online horseshit on April 1.

A landlord has no right of access without tenant permission except in an emergency. 24 hours is the minimum recommended notice but permission still needed.

This is regardless of rent paid or not, property being wrecked, house being used as a brothel or a drug den. Usual mn over sensitivity disclaimer - I am not saying that anyone on this thread does this.

Tenant can do what they like in their home and landlord can't come in uninvited. Same as a mortgage company can't.

I suggest that once this is all over you contact your MP about your experience, especially if you have one who has campaigned about the lack of affordable housing in this country. Unless you have the misfortune to be misrepresented by someone who doesn't care or is a misogynist.
