Try this for a different account of what went on with the chemical attacks:

Was Alec Baldwin playing both Bob O'Reilly and Trump in that sketch? We thought so, but couldn't quite be sure.

Yup, plenty of claims and counterclaims about who made the chemical attack.

The Guardian visited Khan Sheikhun on Thursday and saw the impact point of the shell that contained sarin – a hole on a road metres away from where dozens of those who died in the attack had been asleep in their homes.

Buildings near the site had not been damaged by recent air strikes, directly contradicting Russia’s claims that a jihadist weapons depot had been hit, causing a release of sarin claimed to have been stored there. The Guardian inspected all surrounding commercial buildings. All contained small stores of agricultural goods; none of the sites had been contaminated.

By the way, thanks for all the postings around Louise Mensch. I'm finding them extremely interesting - but also want to remember that she and her sources can't be relied on any more than RoguePOTUS (or anyone).

Just because those two picked a fight, doesn't mean they can be tagged as one being wrong and the other being right.

In particular, Mensch is Murdoch's creature - actually dropped her constituents in it mid-term to run off to him, mere months after the scandal about Murdoch papers... illegally hacking phones and using illicitly-obtained information to pressurise politicians.

Lweji · 09/04/2017 15:25

Yes. They have a line there that refers to them being the same person, or something like that.
I think the point they were trying to make is that they are almost the same.
Same sexual harassment, in particular.

Lweji · 09/04/2017 15:27

That is just mean. Did he also show him his holiday photos?

Probably. And had a film session showing Mulan or a Jackie Chan movie.

Try this for a different account of what went on with the chemical attacks:

Whatever happened to those poor people, the response by Trump was both:

  • rash, rushed and ill thought out
  • apparently useless in terms of castigating Assad - no actual significant targets hit, and not threatening to his power hold.

Sorry, but why is Melania sitting through the children's performance when everybody else (including the Chinese 1st lady) standing up?

AcrossthePond55 · 09/04/2017 15:36

These days it seems that we have to regard any and all actions by Trump and his creatures by prefacing them with 'Is this real, is this a diversion away from Russiagate, or is this a smokescreen for some horrible legislation or a repeal of a good regulation?'. I hate not being able to take what a President says at, if not completely at face value, at least without having to worry and search the internet for an ulterior motive.

It's even more difficult because we've just come from 8 years of a man who would stand in front of us and say something along the lines of ; You may not like this, you may even suffer a bit at the beginning, but this is what we're going to have to do and why. And in the end, we will benefit from it.

Given his first action as President was to complain about crowd size, it's right that people should not take anything he or his administration says at face value.

Lionheart's link saying it was a local chemical depot hit, not sarin.

It reminded me i noticed people saying they smelt the gas. However sarin is odourless usually. So perhaps mixed or perhaps not sarin?

Everything even vaguely reputable says it was a sarin attack by Syrian forces. The only people disputing this are Russians or alt-right nuts with not even a shred of actual evidence. Doctors on the scene treated people with sarin antidote and it worked. Symptoms match sarin poisoning. There is no evidence found of a rebel held sarin factory in the area. The crater from the attack was in the middle of the road and no other buildings were significantly damaged, definitely no chemical depots.

Here is a guardian article from someone actually on the scene.
www.theguardian.com/world/2017/apr/06/the-dead-were-wherever-you-looked-inside-syrian-town-after-chemical-attack

Lweji · 09/04/2017 16:12

I don't think there has been time to properly investigate what happened, and what killed those people.

Yet, Trump bombed an airbase two/three days later.

In any case, about sarin: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/04/06/sarin-deadly-poison-used-idlib-attacks/

“And because it dissipates quite quickly, usually within a few hours, you can then send in your own troops to take that area,”

Meanwhile, the Australian PM puts the full responsibility on Putin to ensure that Syria doesn't engage in more provocative actions.
