My 3year old DD has being complaining about headache since fridaay she even woke up in the middle of the night say "mummy my head hurts" on sund she developed a fever I took her to see the gp yesterday and he just took her temperature and said give her water and let her rest and that the headaches are caused by mucus n the sinus. I wasn't really happy with that she still has the headache and her eye lids are swollen she also woke up with a stomach ache this morning.

I really feel like something is wrong.

Yes I agree take her to childrens A&E.

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/04/2017 02:29

GPs can and often do get it wrong crumbs my gp diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome and fobbed me off...I actually had appendicitis

I had exactly that. I thought appendicitis was the first lesson at doctor school ffs. Was in such a mess that I got slash and burn surgery at midnight rather than the keyhole they hoped to do.

SillySausage34 · 08/04/2017 03:10

How is she now OP?

deaddeadgood · 08/04/2017 03:16

Helpful crumbs
Had I listened to my gp twice in the last week saying everything is fine my dd would be dead. Instead I'm sat up in a ward after being blue lighted and acute admission.

OP trust your gut instinct. It's so important

thecoldnever · 08/04/2017 03:27

Silly she's still the same but weaker because she's not eating much she's also easy irritable and crying over everything. I'm now listening to her grunting in her sleep.

Deadgood I hope your DD is doing well now. What was wrong with her if you don't mind me asking.

She has a chest infection but they were worried about sepsis

thecoldnever · 08/04/2017 03:52

Poor baby hope she's all better now.

Take her. Shes 3 years old and you know your child. My gp is notorious for missing things in children. I would ring 111 and see if get a walk in appointment so not waiting around

bookwormnerd · 08/04/2017 07:22

Hope she feels better soon

Goingtobeawesome · 08/04/2017 07:28

A patient doesn't need to have all the symptoms of meningitis for it to be that. A nine year old died local to us because the GP dismissed the possibility due to him not having a stiff neck.

MsJamieFraser · 08/04/2017 07:30

Op do you have a walk in centre or anything?, if not take her to A&E, if it was my child and they has a constant headache, and swolleness and counter medication did not work then she needs to be seen to get a second opinion.

Gunpowder · 08/04/2017 07:35

Trust your instincts and if you think she needs to be seen then take her. Now is probably a good time as it will be quiet. The doctors in my family all say they would rather see a well child than miss a sick one, these symptoms are not typical for your DD and she is getting worse.

The NHS is struggling because of chronic underfunding not because anxious parents take their three year olds to a&e.

I hope she's ok and it IS sinusitis. Smile

Batwomanrisesagain · 11/04/2017 15:13

Fairybella · 11/04/2017 15:17

Fairybella · 11/04/2017 15:17

SnugglyBedSocks · 11/04/2017 15:20

CrazyCatzCuckoo · 11/04/2017 16:22

Have you taken her? I hope all is ok

Graceflorrick · 11/04/2017 16:25

Take her to get checked, as a priority if necessary.

Silvercatowner · 11/04/2017 16:32

irritable bowel syndrome and fobbed me off...I actually had appendicitis
My doctor wanted to call an ambulance when I presented with some IBS symptoms. I told him I intended to walk home and have breakfast as I was starving.

MaisyPops · 11/04/2017 16:34

Call 111 and theyll arrange for you to see somebody out of hours at the walk in units or urgent care centres.

I wouldnt go straight to A&E unless they get more unwell.

IloveBanff · 11/04/2017 16:41

I would hope she's been seen by now MaisyPop
