I'm selling my phone on Gumtree. It's and iPhone 7plus 256gb so for a decent amount of money. Just had a message asking if it's still available, it is. He/she then asked if we could do it through Paypal because he/she isn't local to come view it.

I'm sceptical because if it was me contemplating handing over this amount of money I would want to see it first. Is there any chance this person could do or say something that results in a PayPal refund and I end up owing money?

Just feeling a bit sceptical Confused

Is there any way to play them at their own game? Say go along with it and send a toy phone or something equally useless, send them the tracking number etc. PayPal would probably refund their money but if you could some how keep it and then donate to charity.

amy I get emails saying I have paid for stuffs via PayPal or bought things of Amazon. I use PayPal but it's not registered with the email i get send the message on. Or if you did not purchase this item please click on this link Hmm looks very real though.

Anyway op I agree with everyone else. :) I'm.sure you will sell soon

OP, why bother stringing them along? Surely you have better things to do with your time?

In stringing him along, he's already hooked you in...just delete him.

I have used Gumtree a lot over the years. Always cash on collection.

Good luck in selling your phone.
