Exactly that!! Eldest DC has a very painful verruca on large toe underneath - is affecting walking and everyday activities!!

So we're trying salactol now and I've ordered duct tape.

I got rid of one with a compeed plaster left on for a couple of days, when I eventually peeled it off in the shower the verruca came with it. It was purely by accident, I'd put the plaster on to cushion it on a hill walk because it was painful and right on the ball of my foot and then the plaster refused to budge for a few days!

Coulddowithanap · 01/04/2017 19:47

Tea tree oil worked for dd after we had tried EVERYTHING else!

Lexie1970 · 01/04/2017 19:52

DS had one on toe and one on ball of other - monster fuckers Shock we have persevered with bazooka and filing every bloody night since christmas.. the one on the toe went about two weeks ago and the ball of foot has almost gone... i think filing is probably the key! Good luck

theresamustgo · 01/04/2017 20:03

Basil leaf under plaster. Unbelievably fast.

Universitychallenging · 01/04/2017 20:05

Dry needling.

Hurts,like a fucking bugger

SoAngryArghh · 01/04/2017 20:23

How does duct tape work - as in I literally cut a small bit and put it on? Am doing salactol. It's so painful for DC - not allowing filing. Did it very lightly with a small emery board and soaked first. Such a palaver

OP posts:
SoAngryArghh · 01/04/2017 20:29

Thuja and tea tree oil is another remedy recommended

OP posts:
SmileEachDay · 01/04/2017 20:31

Pregnancy.

Although that may not help your DS...

SmileEachDay · 01/04/2017 20:31

Actually. You didn't say son,

So there's hope...

LieInRequired · 01/04/2017 20:36

I tried everything listed above on DD (she would not let me file it) and it didn't go even with a visit to a chiropodist. It is finally gone. I bought Bye Wart from Holland & Barrett, then put a large piece of duct tape on it and held it on with micropore tape. Did this every night for a week and it went.

Noodledoodledoo · 01/04/2017 20:46

My local chiropodist does a non invasive treatment which is electormagnet based. He just waves a wand in front of the verucca and there is a chilly feeling.

Veruccas vanish within 6 weeks - one I had was less than 5 weeks old and it has gone - its amazing and pain free!

Bringbackpublicfloggings · 01/04/2017 20:59

I had loads on each foot and tried all of the creams and plasters, none of those worked so i gave up, but that summer I used to walk around the garden bare foot and the veruccas vanished.

RabidHarpy · 01/04/2017 21:10

Does no-one else set to them with tweezers? Amazingly satisfying and within a week or so, gone.

DC with their father this weekend or I would be checking now Smile.

nocake · 01/04/2017 21:20

The only thing that gets rid of them is your own immune system. All the treatments do is provoke your immune system into responding. They're trying to get your body to see the verucca as a foreign object to get rid of. So try any or all of them but don't bother spending much on them. Something cheap, like tape, is as effective as something expensive.

My preferred treatment is to ignore them as they eventually disappear, although if it's uncomfortable cutting it back with a sharp blade can help.

BerylStreep · 01/04/2017 21:26

We just go to the podiatrist. £30 a pop, but one visit usually sorts it.

He uses salicylic acid, but at much greater concentration than you could ever buy over the counter.

He has recommended using thuja cream which you can buy in Holland & Barratt for small new ones. He advised about a matchstick head sized amount on the verruca then cover with duct tape for a week. I would second the advice of keeping the duct tape in position with micropore tape.

I picked up a verruca at work almost 25 years ago, and it was a bloody nightmare. It was how I met my podiatrist who I now count as a personal friend. It took about 6 months of weekly treatments to get rid of, and I got loads of satellite ones as well. I despaired that I would ever get rid of them. Apparently the mother verruca had 'tentacle roots' that were extremely deep in the skin. Gross. I'm still mentally scarred.

BerylStreep · 01/04/2017 21:37

My podiatrist also recommends putting salt & vinegar on mosaic verrucae and covering with a plaster. It's worked for me too.

TalkingofMichaelAngel0 · 01/04/2017 21:44

Three private Chiropodists treatments. One YEAR of cryo. Every over the counter treatment going. Loads of old wives takes. 17 years and the bastard is still there. -7 years. The docs suggestion was go back to cryo and stick with it. Stick with it? I went for A FUCKING YEAR and the nurse said it hadnt changed at all and was baving no effect. So, i think ill have ot until i walk on the bastard thing through the pearly gates.

hipposinacircle · 01/04/2017 21:44

Duct tape with micropore tape to keep it in place. Use a pumice stone in between.

gameofchance · 01/04/2017 21:45

Nothing has worked for me, sorry. Am now 4 years in. Bloody thing has been around forever and hurts because of where it is. I even tried something called 'dry needling' which was excruciating (and didn't sodding work).. If I could find somewhere to do it locally, I would try laser treatment next

Areyoufree · 01/04/2017 21:59

They tested the duct tape thing on Health Freaks (TV programme that tested home remedies) and concluded that it actually does work.

SoAngryArghh · 01/04/2017 22:18

I'll try duct tape next. Vicious things. This one is so painful

OP posts:
KenDodddied · 01/04/2017 22:23

I had about 10 on one foot for around 8 years. I tried convention treatments with no success. I tried the duct tape method but it always came off. I eventually got rid of them (and have no craters), one in particular was about the size of a 5p piece and very sore at times. I applied a bazooka type gel and covered the whole area with duct tape then I wrapped the duct tape in a roll of old fashioned plaster (this may be the micropore tape a pp mentioned). This stayed on and I changed only when it started to come off. I had a bit of a dig in the centre of some of the big ones, applied more gel and redressed. I did this for a few weeks and as the skin got softer I was able to dig a bit more. I eventually noticed a few had disappeared and so kept going and another few weeks and they were all gone.

SoAngryArghh · 01/04/2017 22:36

Thanks Ken Dodd I thought duct tape would just stay in place now need the micro stuff

OP posts:
DrinkReprehensibly · 01/04/2017 22:38

I had two on my foot for about 10 years and then I decided I had to make a concerted effort when I found one day that they had spread to my hands. I concentrated on treating one on my hand and after trying lots of methods for 2 years, the one that worked in the end was Apple cider vinegar. It was quite painful but it worked in about 2 weeks. I think it must have triggered my immune system into fighting them because all the others, including the ones on my feet then disappeared.

It was a bit stinky though. I had to act all innocent when my colleague said the office smelt like a chip shop. I just said "oh I can't smell anything!"

SoAngryArghh · 01/04/2017 23:08

Been reading on apple cider vinegar - as people talk of a mother verruca - there is supposed to be 'mother' in apple cider vinger. It shows it is pure. I'm struggling to find a high quality apple cider vinegar.

Getting confused now
