Child maintenance

Hi, I am constantly told by my ex dp that I am being unreasonable so am interested to hear the honest opinions of ladies on here.
We are separated and have a child aged 2.
She lives with me and he has contact - one full weekend a fortnight and one midweek sleepover on alternate weeks.

The issue is how much he should be paying me in maintenance.

The CSA calculator said £56 a week.

I suggested £50 a week.

He thinks that both are ridiculously high and at first just wanted to go halves on everything that needs to be bought for her.

I said it won't work like that and would rather a regular weekly amount.

He suggested £20 a week.

Am I being unreasonable?

At this point I would pay your £20 contact the CMS and let them deal with it.. You will get at least £56 a week..If he is been honest about his income and when he objects tell him you are too busy raising your DD to deal with his tantrums..

Do Not allow him to make you feel bad for asking for the bare minimum ..

I would also suggest he wants to know exactly what you are spending.. as if £20 a week covers expenses of raising a child

So he earns around £28000 per year but thinks he should pay around £1000 a year for his child. I'd go the CMS route and not mess about.

Sorry I'm not sure where have you got £448 a month from.

Please go through the official route from the start. I made the mistake of trying to go the amicable route with my ex for his benefit. He kept missing payments and bullshitting about when I'd get it, then like yours getting really aggressive about how unreasonable it was he had to pay so much (the amount given by CSA calculator).
When he was nearly £800 behind with no sign of paying I went to CSA. They can't chase any money you are owed before they get involved so that money is written off, my children are the ones that have to do without.
Even with CSA involved he paid for a short while then stopped completely and is now over a grand in arrears and quit his job so now there is no money to claim those arrears from.
There is nothing wrong with protecting the money you and your child are legally entitled to by involving CSA now. He can pay the money directly to you, CSA only need become involved if he starts miss payments.
Pay attention to the signals he is already sending you, if he's already arguing the amount it's only going to get worse.
