to be analysing call regarding job outcome

Hi all,
I can't believe I missed the call I have been waiting for all day!
To be fair they called at 6.10pm way after I expected a school to call me.
I went for an interview Monday for a TA position,
I missed a call yesterday ( no caller ID ) with a voicemail that I couldn't comprehend so I called the school back to see if it was them, made myself look a twat as the office said " nobody would have called you today; the other interviews take place tomorrow "
Anyway, it's the head who has left me this voicemail and it reads
" Good evening, we have now reached a decision for the job you applied for and I would like to let you know the outcome. It would be wonderful to speak with you so if you could give me a call at your convenience at some point tomorrow between 9am-3pm that would be great. I very much look forward to speaking with you "
I'm so nervous and don't know whether to be positive or not!!!!
His tone is friendly but not giving much away!!
What do you all think?

I was planning on leaving it one ring at maximum!!
No I'm kidding, I'll try not to appear like a complete Nutjob!

No call yet and have a really long drive starting at 12 mainly motorway and won't be able to answer 😁
Really don't want to miss the call again, will I look crazy ringing again just before we take off??

I don't think so. Good luck!

MrsNuckyThompson · 30/03/2017 10:24

Just call again before you leave explaining you won't be able to talk much this afternoon.

blueskyinmarch · 30/03/2017 10:53

I agree that if you haven't heard then call back explaining you are setting off on a long drive and won't be able to answer any calls. They may get him to call you back quite quickly then.

Elizabeth1970 · 30/03/2017 10:57

I didn't get it

Sorry. That voice mail did sound like you had it.

PaperdollCartoon · 30/03/2017 10:59

Aww sorry OP Sad
I was going to say I'm a headhunter and leave messages about jobs all the time, I wouldn't be that positive sounding if it was negative. Very mean of them.

verytiredmummy1 · 30/03/2017 11:05

Oh no! What a mean voicemail! Sorry OP

Elizabeth1970 · 30/03/2017 11:22

Apparently he wanted to speak to me directly as if another role comes up he will contact me rather than advertise
I asked for his reasons and he said ( this job was working in a year 6 class ) was that the teacher this year has completely knocked the confidence out of the children 😢 So they need someone who isn't as focused on the learning aspect but just on having fun and increasing their confidence

That's a surprising thing to say about a class teacher.

Elizabeth1970 · 30/03/2017 11:45

That's what I thought! Quite unprofessional really. He almost implied he can't get rid of the teacher so is needing a certain TA to hold the class up

Lucky escape I think. To be put into a classroom where the person in charge is so horrible they've broken the kids, and somehow expecting one less senior person to somehow turn that around?!?!

Combined with the weirdly happy voicemail from the head and I'm saying definitely a school to avoid.

Hopefully you'll get some confidence from this (rather odd) recruitment process and next one will be the great move for you Wink

Seriously, don't be too upset over this one

Elizabeth1970 · 30/03/2017 12:00

Thankyou, I think he is just trying to keep my interest in case he needs another TA soon - there's a nigh turnover of staff looking at the ofsted
Still upset mainly by the voicemail as completely led up the garden path

Sorry to hear that

MuchasSmoochas · 30/03/2017 17:05

Oh no sorry to get your hopes up Elizabeth. Weird way to break the news. Hope you get something soon.

Schoolmumbum · 30/03/2017 21:24

Yes all a bit weird I agree

eyespydreams · 30/03/2017 21:34

I had laughed out loud at Caspar's post as so, so true ( that they'd be psychopath to be looking forward to letting you down). I honestly think the fact that he didn't think through how that would come across to you is v bad management, and the situation with the teacher sounds very bizarre and stressful for all, so I'd say your miss was your mercy!

Schoolmumbum · 30/03/2017 21:40

Thanks - trying to feel positive about it and I do think it's pretty unprofessional to tell me, that the teacher I would be working alongside had broken the kids spirits!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 31/03/2017 12:07

That's annoying. Hopefully something better will come along soon.
