To put 2yo DS in leggings?

They're comfy, I'm not a big fan of joggers, he would wear them with T-shirts. Is he going to look ridiculous?

allpizzas DS prefers the straight cut and less notable elastic I think. He's not in skin tight leggings (or wasn't until this pair!). I gave him the choice of what he wanted based on the pictures and he was quite adamant he didn't want the other styles!

TJDetweiler · 27/03/2017 21:17

AllPizza it's the looseness that I don't really like. To me leggings are just as comfy and easy but a bit less casual looking.

My boys wear a lot of leggings - H&M, Zara and John Lewis are usually your best bet. I like that they're comfy, soft and not restrictive.

OneSecondAfter · 27/03/2017 21:28

The 'leggings' posted by Ncforthispost2005 just look like trousers to me. So if that's what you mean by leggings, OP, then I wouldn't bat an eyelid at buying them for my son or at any boy wearing them.

If you're talking about super-tight black lycra thingies like adult women wear, then I'd probably not buy them for my DS myself, but each to their own.

TJDetweiler · 27/03/2017 21:54

These are the ones I ordered. The Zara ones are jogging are really just jogging bottoms but snug. The M&S ones are the sort I'm asking about really. If he likes them then I'll order some of the nicer colourful ones.

My DS had Christmas leggings. I loved them on him!

iismum · 27/03/2017 22:00

My DS still loves wearing leggings at 7. I don't see the problem.

hazeyjane · 27/03/2017 22:01

What's wrong with jogging bottoms?

TJDetweiler · 27/03/2017 22:02

Hazey nothing at all. DS has quite a few pairs. I just don't really like them.

Loads of boys wear leggings nowadays, I think they're fab.

user1487941567 · 27/03/2017 22:09

I've just bought the Fred and Noah dinosaur ones! ❤️

Nightfall1983 · 27/03/2017 22:12

I'm the exact opposite and insist on putting my 15 month old DD in joggers because I dislike leggings :) it does make her stand out/look different from the other girls but I'm ok with that. Probably doesn't help that they, along with her t-shirts are DS hand-me-downs and are all notably boyish (I didn't buy any of them, I prefer neutral on both of them) so she does look distinctly boyish. I don't mind in the slightest - don't see why anyone should mind a boy in leggings either...

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 27/03/2017 23:36

As long as they don't keep wearing them as adults.

Why ever not! It did David Bowie no harm at all! Grin

Cutesbabasmummy · 28/03/2017 11:32

I got some lovely blushes with stars on fir my DS. They were from the M&S girls section!

fourteenlittleducks · 28/03/2017 13:18

I don't like joggers- they look a bit scruffy, baggy and slip down at the hips. Joggers look like PJs to me!

hazeyjane · 28/03/2017 13:21

See I think it's the other way round! Leggings look like pyjamas and jogging bottoms look smarter. Ds wears jogging bottoms, they fit well, they're not baggy, they are in a range of colours and he doesn't look like Max Wall with little skinny legs!

fourteenlittleducks · 28/03/2017 15:49

I've never managed to find joggers that aren't baggy. My DC have long legs and small waists so joggers slip down. Leggings are very stretchy and don't hinder movement.

I don't like busy patterned leggings and joggers for toddlers though, they look PJ-ish. Not that it should matter but I don't want people to think we haven't got dressed!

I only wear joggers for gardening/gym but wear smart leggings with tunics most days.

Nightneverchanges · 28/03/2017 16:03

My 6 year old exclusively wears leggings. He doesn't like jeans or chinos and I refuse to put him in joggers. He likes bright colours too, purple and blue and bright red!

Gender specific clothes are ridiculous.

DarkDarkNight · 29/03/2017 07:51

My nearly 4 year old loves them and I prefer him in comfy clothes than restrictive trousers. He's nearly out of the biggest size in Zara baby boy but I buy them from the girl's section, shops on Instagram and a few other places.

Joggers are nice if you get the right style, skinny joggers with a drop crotch or harem style are nice and look just as stylish.
