To keep DD 135cm on a booster seat?

Posting for traffic, sorry, and slightly a TAAT. More "inspired" by a thread...

DD is aged 8 and 135cm.

I've looked up the new car seat rules. She normally sits on a backless booster seat.

What I'm not sure is at what point it becomes more dangerous to sit on the seat than not? Should I be taking her off it now? Or if not, when?

I did try to look this up on lie!

I'm having a dilemma over car seats at the moment. We are going on holiday towing a caravan, my dd 9 still in hbb she's around 135 cm but still fits it very well, we have no attitude about using it, we also have dn coming with us, same height and age as dd her parents don't use anything as soon as she reached 135cm it was gone! Now I think,my car my rules, she's using one when we take her non negotiable. However dh thinks if her parents say she doesn't have to then we should say OK? Wwyd?

My almost 12 yo still uses a backless booster in our car because the seat back is high and the seatbelt cuts across his neck, but he hasn't needed it in most other cars he's travelled in for over a year. He's simply not fitted into a high backed seat with his shoulders back properly for ages, which is why he moved into a backless booster when he reached about 140cm.

I have one of those seat belt adjusters - little black clip from betterware - as I'm only 146cm.

I'd keep them in the booster as long as possible.

My DC is 8, 135cm and still in HBB. will be until he's 150cm (we travel to france regularly where this is the law).

and in answer to previous poster - when i take my DC's friends they sit in HBB - my car my rules. if the kids question it i just say 'this is just how we do it in my car'.

Keep in booster until the seatbelt fits correctly (lap and shoulder) without it.

Around puberty bones harden so there's a bit more leeway for the seatbelt hitting different parts, but it's better safe than sorry.

My 11 yr old is still in her high back booster. She's about 145cm but only 27kg, so very skinny. She doesn't mind and knows it's safer, I think being the eldest and the fact that her siblings are still in hbb too helps. We've said we will get rid of it in the summer as she starts secondary school in sept so won't want to be in one then.

If you're not having issues, retain the status quo until weight limits are reached.

DS on the other hand came out of his booster the day he his 135cm, his PTSD was so badly triggered by the seat that it was becoming actively dangerous (due to height/weight/ability to hurt himself during an episode).

My old thread! She's 140cm now and not comfy on the booster any more. Just thought you'd like to know!

Both mine needed a booster for quite a while after reaching 135cm. Both have very long legs so their seated height meant the seat belt was still not fitting them well.

I found this helpful in terms of deciding when they were ready,
