To think it's mothers' day and not mother's day?

Well, technically, it's mothering Sunday but surely if shortening it it should be mothers' day and not mother's day? It's a day for mothers not just one mother.

So why did i not see a single card in the card shop (must have spent about 15 mins looking through them all trying to find a nice, soppy one for my mum) that said mothers' day?

On an unrelated note I've now just looked at the word mother for too long and it no longer looks like a word. It looks like moth-er. One who moths.

Curls, all I can see when I click on the link you posted are the definitions of 'mother' and 'mothering'; I can't see where it says 'mothers' day' is incorrect.
