Because MIL is a mother too but really it should be the DH who cooks a big family meal for his mother, MIL and wife - funny that doesn't happen very often.

idlemum my ILs are very good really, but I do feel as I went there last year on my birthday I shouldn't be doing it this year (although it is actually the day before but as I said DS has outpatients on the actual day). I am quite happy for them to visit and come for a bar meal with us. I don't think that is totally unreasonable, do you?

Bozza - I think you are being more than reasonable and positively saintly compared to me

My kids have asked me to ask DH to take them shopping Bless.

Actually Mothers day and dd1 b'day are on teh same day, so we are working on negotiating. I get teh morning, afternoon is DD's party

DH is to make us breakfast in bed (hopefully for me and 2 DD's) and that's about it.

My mum is on holiday and we don't DO mothers day, MIL will be coming to the kids party in the afternoon so I will DH to get her something when he get me a pressie.

Actually he is pretty good, he knows my fave shop (full of Cath Kidstin adn Emma Bridgewater) and my kids know it too (they are 6 and 8) and will be taking DH
