AIBU?

Who is bu? Me or dh

It's trivial.

I put a load of washing in the machine at about 5pm, it had ds school jumpers and coat which needed doing for tomorrow. I got distracted by the toddler and obviously forgot to switch machine on but thought I had.

Dh comes in later, shouts up to me is the washing machine free to do his work overalls. Assuming the load had finished I said yes.

Later on I noticed all the washing on the floor by the machine, I said to dh I need to hang that lot out to get ds coat and jumper dry. He tells me it's all dirty, so he'd pulled it all out dirty to put his stuff in.

I said oh shit, it was supposed to go on, ds jumpers and coat are in there for tomorrow (by this point it's getting late), dh says don't worry, when his work stuff is done and he goes to hang that up he'll put it all back on to wash.

Just now I say I'd better hang those jumpers and coat out at least, he says they're not washed, he didn't put them on, he denies saying he would. Dh suggests just wiping them over.

They're on now but we both want to go to bed. Who is bu and should stay up to hang it or? We've both been at work.

Miscommunication central.

YABU - for not turning the machine on. Yes, really.

HIBU - for taking out dirty clothes and prioritising his own. His own child's school clothes. Not on.

So, you should both stay up as penance. And fucking learn your lessons.

Urm, well I don't understand why he took the dirty stuff out to wash his things, could they not have gone in together? Or at least he could have turned the machine on when it was clear the stuff was still dirty, then washed his work things later.

I think he's the one BU.

I'm also annoyed by the taking it out and leaving it in a pile on the floor, that's pretty shit.

His overalls take up a full load plus they are really smelly, he works on farms, I usually run the machine on a hot wash after they've been in if I can.

I'm annoyed with myself for not switching the machine on and I'm annoyed with him for not realising that stuff needed doing when he dumped it on the floor.

We've got two jumpers, both are in the wash because one came home dirty, the other has been 'lost' at school until today so both needed a wash. He's got loads of trousers so we are ok on them. Ds has got other coats but I'll be moaned at tomorrow because that's the only one I can get him to wear.

Dh needs to stop storing his stinky overalls until the last minute I say!

I would have used a cloth on the school clothes if I really couldn't be arsed staying up. We have a short 20 minute cycle though.

HIBU to take the clothes out and not clarify with you if it needs to go on - dry dirty clothes don't live there unless they're supposed to be washed. HI also BU for saying he would put the stuff in after and then not doing it.

True, to be fair to him he does quite a bit at weekends and tries to get all the washing done. He just ignores it during the week unless it's his for work.

Trouble is he'd just save it all up for the weekend. We seem to do loads and loads, and I don't even wash things that much.
