Just that really, is it fine or a no go? (Brazilian wax by the way)

Worra my granny used to say that too.

I'd ask the beautician, I imagine with some contraception causing long lengthly bleeding she will probably have come across it before.

Only1scoop · 22/03/2017 00:16

Hurts more at that time Op

I still do although I wear thong as my wax isn't so intimate these days Blush

ArriettyClock1 · 22/03/2017 00:24

Why not?

I get the full monty wax - if I am having a period, I poke the tampon string entirely inside. In fact, I will often put a tampon in, even if I am not having a period - just to be polite Grin

Meh. No biggy.

avamiah · 22/03/2017 00:24

Smudged,
It's no big thing to a beauty therapist who does waxes.
Lets be honest she has seen it all before and no doubt many times.
What's a little string, when she sees all your private bits??

smudgedlipstick · 22/03/2017 00:25

It hurts anyway scoop so not worried about it hurting anymore 😂

Thanks Ava, I will def give her the option though so she can say no if she doesn't, I can't see anything wrong with it, she wouldn't notice if I didn't tell her

Smudge ,
I used to get it all waxed off years ago and I remember the therapist getting the light and a pair of tweezers and going that close only my OH had been before( if you get me) 😬😬😬.
Now I just shave in the bath .
😉

JonesyAndTheSalad · 22/03/2017 00:56

Isn't it a biohazard?

DragonsToSlayAndWineToDrink · 22/03/2017 01:00

Every time I have booked a wax and then started my period I have always told the waxer and they have always said come anyway. So I would obv let them know, but wouldn't expect them to cancel.

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/03/2017 01:27

My sister used to be a therapist and their rule was that as long as internal protection was worn then it was fine, but that it really does hurt MASSIVELY more during a period so for that reason she recommends that clients dont!

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/03/2017 01:29

Isn't it a biohazard?

What the fuck do you keep in your uterus?!

Its blood not fucking Anthrax

Phoebefromfriends · 22/03/2017 06:37

Lilqueenie I'm a poler and regularly invert during my period using a mooncup and its never flipped upside down. Did you actually witness that? slightly concerned now

Regarding the wax I wouldn't get waxed but if I did I wouldn't do it during my period but sounds like you'll be fine.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 22/03/2017 06:43

ArriettyClock1

Isn't wearing a tampon when you don't have a period a TSS risk?

gamerwidow · 22/03/2017 06:44

Blood is classed as a biohazard seeing as it can carry some quite nasty infections. However the therapist should be wearing gloves and taking appropriate safety precautions anyway.

honeylulu · 22/03/2017 06:46

The clinic where I had my laser treatment had a sign up saying "We can still treat you during your period - please apply a fresh tampon immediately before your appointment". It's a pain for them having last minute cancellations at busy times.
I use a menstrual cup and was treated with it in (treatment is close up and very intimate). Like tampon with string tucked inside I doubt they would know.
I have one day of my period with very liquid heavy flow and risk of minor leakage. I would have cancelled if it had been that day. But otherwise, they have seen it all before. As long as you've had a good wash I doubt they'd bat an eyelid.

Babymamamama · 22/03/2017 06:49

I can't even get my eyebrows threaded when I'm on as the pain seems so much more intense so can't imagine a Brazilian at that time but each to their own.

Wriggler79 · 22/03/2017 07:03

I got my legs waxed when I was on my period and it HURT. Someone told me afterwards I had been silly to get it done at that point in the month; apparently things hurt more because of when in your cycle it is?! So that would put me off. I'd also be worried about leakage, if using a mooncup; or embarrassed if using a tampon. I imagine it depends how confident you feel about the whole thing.

ClopySow · 22/03/2017 07:50

My waxer told me it was fine to come for a wax during my period.

LadyDisick · 22/03/2017 08:14

I used to have a Brazilian regularly and my beautician always said it was fine to come in for it even if on my period, as pps have said just pop a tampon in and otherwise make sure you're clean as you would do anyway. Her other advice was to take paracetamol and ibuprofen half an hour before the appointment to reduce the pain as you will be more sensitive when on. If you haven't had such a conversation with your therapist then I'd suggest you call and see if they are ok for you to come in or whether they would prefer for you to rebook.

Screwinthetuna · 22/03/2017 08:23

Why would you even do that? Do you really expect the person doing it to move your tampon string out the way?
What the hell, gross

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 22/03/2017 08:30

I'm rather partial to calling it The Curse (I like a bit of drama).

I don't use tampons so for those saying the beauty therapist wouldn't know, do tampons prevent the smell somehow?

I have a pretty iron-y smell down below during my period, I find it hard to believe someone positioned at that end would escape it.

Bonez · 22/03/2017 10:52

Most beauty therapists don't care. Just give yourself a clean with a femfresh wipe and put a fresh tampon in (then wipe again for good measure).

Pippa12 · 22/03/2017 11:07

I have a (very thorough!) Waxing every 5ish weeks so sometimes falls at the dreaded week. I just pop a fresh tampon in and freshen up imediately before leaving and sort of tuck the string in my bum Blush

I've never noticed a smell before?

You at risk of TSS whenever you wear a tampon, regardless at to whether you are menstruating or not.

It does hurt more, but para&brufen should take the edge off!

The glamour of being a women eh!

Ps. I never knew there were so many people that hated waxing before i started reading AIBU Hmm

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 22/03/2017 17:11

Sorry, I have nothing helpful to add, but that made me snort tea all over my keyboard!
