To think the "zips" on bags of peas are the work of the devil? (lighthearted)

They drive me insane. I tear the top off, as instructed, then I try and open the damn things. It doesn't matter which way I slide the "zip" the bag steadfastly remains tightly closed. It drives me nuts. I freely admit that this type of thing is my nemesis, you lot probably open the pack easily and dish up your Michelin starred meals without even breaking into a sweat.

Anyone have the same problem? Any other packaging drive you to despair?

Ok, so how do you get the zips to work? It doesn't seem to matter which way I slide the zipper thingy, they stay closed.

Totally with you on pea bags and cheese bags but don't toothbrush packages have a little prepared thing that the brush bursts out of? Normally near the bottom on the back. If you grab the top and push it against the plastic shell it bursts through the cardboard.

I hate the plastic covers on things, where you are supposed to grab a corner and peel the film off, but in reality it turns into a thousand different slivers of plastic film.

Also those peel and reseal things on, for example, ham or beef. They don't reseal.

And packets of rice which you are supposed to open and use the sticker to reseal, but I tear open and the sticker doesn't work so every time I even look at the fucking packet tiny breakaway ninja rice shards run off into every available nook and onto every surface. Stupid ricey fuckers.

The80sweregreat · 21/03/2017 20:16

We were all fine years ago without all this resealable stuff.i bought a few pegs for food from amazon ..( forget to use them, but the thought was there)

purplecoathanger · 21/03/2017 20:17

Yes, those reseal stickers do not work. Why can't we go back to simple times?

I ruddy love zippable peas, I don't get a cascade of loose peas falling onto the floor whenever I open the freezer anymore.

The80sweregreat · 21/03/2017 20:22

Purple, i cant do these things either. It all Started with chocolate bags, but i eat them all, so no real problem there! Lol.

OpalMoon · 21/03/2017 20:52

Bubble packed scissors you bought to get into bubble packaging but can't get out of their own packaging without scissors which you have but can't access without scissors Confused

Zips on peas... I cut them off and use a clip thing Grin

Love zippable peas but usually buy budget versions of peas which taste just as good.

LurpakIstheOnlyButter · 21/03/2017 21:11

Hate the buggering things. They are designed to assist in the spilling of peas during the pouring process.

I would go as far as saying I am very peed off.

coffeetasteslikeshit · 22/03/2017 05:48

So glad it's not just me! I have the same problem with the peas, no matter which way I 'unzip' them, they're still sealed. I end up having to prise the zipper open with a nail.

SabineUndine · 22/03/2017 06:00

Plastic olive oil bottles. You pick the fucking thing up, the lid pops off, oil EVERYWHERE. Angry

123MothergotafleA · 22/03/2017 06:25

Same here, been using the zipped peas, and find that I'm unable to get the pack closed, and have to resort to a clip.
Will be looking for a lower tech. and cheaper pack of peas in future.
Birds Eye, kindly get your act( zip) together.
And don't get me started about those rice packages that burst open, scattering rice in the process.

Mum2jenny · 22/03/2017 06:29

My dh loves zipped peas. I hate them with a vengeance. He is now in charge of the peas Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 22/03/2017 06:41

YANBU. I had an argument with a bag of wraps last night because I always tear the bag off the plastic sealy thing getting them open in the first place rendering the entire system useless.

Notso · 22/03/2017 06:57

I love them, it saves me decanting them into a big freezer bag. I've never had an issue with unzipping them. I'm a happea customer!

My worst thing to open is scissors that you need to use a pair of bloody scissors to open Confused

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2017 07:33

I like the zipped pea bags. I find they often need prizing open with a fingernail the first time but then they're fine. I reuse them, they're better than most ziplock bags. I use them for e.g freezing pizza for DD (cut in half straight through the polystyrene base). Very durable - if you're out walking and come across someone eating their sandwiches while feeding large quantities of mini Markies to a dachshund from a birds eye ziplock, say hi - I've been using the same bag for ages now, no holes and the zip still works.
