I've read a few articles in the last week about builders leaving and the NHS having trouble recruiting nurses from the EU since the Brexit vote. Just wondered what other people are seeing.

I am in London and have seen one set of neighbours leave to go back to Spain, so far, that is all.

Work in a London global business. Lots of EU staff. No-one leaving.

Birdandsparrow · 20/03/2017 17:32

I've been away a long time, 17 years now and would probably never have gone back anyway, but the whole Brexit crap has meant that I have applied for Spanish nationality and I don't even care that I will have to renounce my British nationality as part of that.

greathat · 20/03/2017 17:32

Yes a German colleague has gone back to Germany with her British husband

Best friend's company are setting up offices in Dublin - they are all waiting to see what will happen next.

My Bulgarian friend's nephews have decided they aren't coming here. So that's a success for limiting FOM!

As a pp touched on, it's not really our jobs or lives that we're moving for, I really want our DC to have more options than Brexit is likely to leave them with. We have the option to move and qualify for citizenship in another country, and we're going to take it.

Alfieisnoisy · 20/03/2017 17:40

I've a couple of EU friends living and working here who want to stay and are very stressed about how unforthcoming the Govt has been about their future status. Have moaned about this on the Brexit threads..the Leavers are sick of me Blush

Beyond that I haven't heard of anyone I am acquainted with planning to leave although I have read about one or two families making the decision to do so.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/03/2017 17:40

I don't know anyone leaving. One of my French friends was contemplating it, but decided against.

On the other hand, my sister and bil currently living in France will be moving back in 2018. Think this was always on the cards and not Brexit related though.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 20/03/2017 17:43

I think it's very early days Grin Ask us again in two years time.

blissey · 20/03/2017 17:53

I'm looking for jobs in Europe, and my British husband will come with me if I find one. We're not desperate to leave just yet, but Brexit is certainly a big factor in our considerations.

TheCuriousOwl · 20/03/2017 17:58

OH wants to move to Germany. I was dead against it and now I'm on the fence.

TheNaze73 · 20/03/2017 17:59

Loads are leaving in the city & relocating to Frankfurt & Hong Kong. The next 10 years will be so tough for the UK. Still can't believe we're going & still pissed off.

The people that voted out, will no doubt be the ones moaning about price increases, delays at airports, diminishing pension pots, yadda yadda yadda.

CheesyChristie · 20/03/2017 18:04

Dh works in the city and his whole department is currently in the process of moving to Dublin. We're still undecided as to whether to move the dc's and I over or have dh fly back at weekends and see how that goes.

It's so sad and such a monemental ball ache.

Embolio · 20/03/2017 18:05

Well I'm already in Ireland (in the north) my husband and kids all have Irish passports so I'll probably fork out for my Irish citizenship (I'm English but have lived here for years). Depending what happens with the border here we might consider moving to the Republic. I'm a nurse and DH's company have offices in Dublin, so....

I find it all so depressing

KindDogsTail · 20/03/2017 18:06

Yes, i do.

I know of three couples from the EU who decided not to stay.

TiredBefuddledRose · 20/03/2017 18:07

I have 2 cousins who have moved back to their wives' countries of birth since Brexit

Showmethewaytogohome · 20/03/2017 18:15

I'm a UK citizen but not white so not leaving currently but hedging with a plan B. In process of getting EU and non EU citizenships for myself and the kids (the benefits of being from immigrants!). We may relocate/ retire to the EU country

My EU friends who have been here for 20 plus years without a thought prior Brexit are nervous and have generally dismissed getting UK citizenship. However they are thinking about getting EU passports for their kids and may leave at some point depending on how it goes. Tbh everyone I know who can get an EU passport is thinking seriously about it and/or is setting it in motion

These are good tax paying people. These are my friends
