Of why my doorbell rings at similar times?

Not only is it always lateish at night but it's also when I'm on my own.

Moved into a town house a few weeks ago, I live on my own. The house has lower, middle & top floor. There is a parking space under the house, my door is on this parking space so not visible to anyone who wouldn't have seen someone walk in.

I have a partner who when I see at mine I drop to work (works nights) Sometimes I come straight home, sometimes I go to a friends for a quick catch up then come home.

The weird thing is it only goes off when he's not here. It's also clockwork in terms of me walking in, lights off downstairs..then the middle floor, then my bedroom light goes on (front of house).i do my teeth etc and within 5-10 mins the bell goes.

Has anyone else had this? I've had bells before with no trouble, I've read about interference. I live in a pretty secluded dead end place which is pitch black at night so can never see anyone the times it's gone, been too scared to answer the door!

Last night I removed the button from the front door..nothing..

We have a wireless one
It's much more likely to go off when our neighbour's bell is pressed than our own.

Oh I would Grin I once chased a man down our alley and onto the street with a bread knife after he tried to stick his arm through my kitchen window to try the door. Amazing how quickly they scarper when faced with a crazy, blade wielding woman in an Iron Man nighty.

Could you set your phone to record and prop it up in the car facing the door?

Coffee3 · 19/03/2017 19:24

Hi Op,
I had this in our previous house; totally freaked myself out and it turned out to be the battery on the way out!
Why the designers thought the random alerts were a good idea I don't know!

Lidlfix · 19/03/2017 19:27

Our car keys trigger the doorbell so it was (ripped off in a rage) dismantled as my DH has 0500 starts. Could be someone's keys are triggering yours?

OnionKnight · 19/03/2017 19:29

The battery isn't dying is it? Our doorbell rings by itself when the battery is low.

Lottylovesbread · 19/03/2017 19:32

Is ur bell wireless? Our bell rang every time neighbours across the road had their door bell ring. We were slightly higher than them so could see right on to their doorstep. Had to get a new bell.

Haha starry!
I don't think leaving my phone in the car on view is a good idea just incase it is someone dodgy. Also don't think it has enough storage to sit.
I've not long got back in..earlier than normal but we will see.

I think you need a motion sensor light there (out of reach of someone at the front door) which lights up if someone approaches. That would be good for you, too, when you come home alone.

You also could do with a CCTV camera which you could view on a tablet or phone. You can get them so that you can use them wherever you are, even at work.

I wouldn't feel happy with the situation with your ex without those two things.
