I feel like my DM being so worried and anxious about this but it is pretty awful.

I set myself fire just the other week after using e45 under a bandage. I wz cooking on the hob and the flame must have sparked. Never had any kind of warnings despite using most of the creams in the report on prescription. It happened so quick, almost like petrol would ignite. So pleased the reports come out.

I see this as a warning to institutions really like hospitals and nursing homes to be mindful of the risks, and perhaps consider increased risk assesment when there are these factors and put measures into place. Let your daughter know so she's aware but I'd try my best not to give this head space (easier said than done I know).

Indeed Norma! It put itself out pretty instantaneously leaving me stood still smouldering & my husband looking at me strangely as he hasn't realized what had happened. House smelt awful for ages. I think it's when it's soaked into bandages more than just on skin.

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much. The common factor was a naked flame ( smoking iirc) it's not spontaneous combustion.

I know it's not the point of the thread, but vaseline isn't good for dry skin, it actually dries it out more.

I used to have really bad cracked dry lips and I covered them in vaseline as often as possible to try and help them, read an article about vaseline and similar products actually drawing moisture out of skin, stopped using it and my lips were actually better with nothing than with the vaseline
