To think there's no need to eat out every night of a holiday?

We're going away soon and are staying in a resort/hotel that has a small kitchen in the room. We have decided to not do all inclusive/eat out at the town. There's no reason to not cook something at least a couple of needs. Is there really a need to eat out every night? Not being arsey, genuinely wondering. AIBU?

I'm slightly obsessed with holiday supermarkets

I love a foreign supermarket. I'm easily pleased

I like to have a kitchenette just for breakfast as my dc are hungry as soon as they're up, otherwise we eat out. I hate cooking on holiday!

It depennds on wgere we go really. If its abroad we go all inclusive but do explore (not just stay at resort) and eat out sometimes. If in the UK, we normally have breakfast in the apartment/chalet (usually cooked, or cereal etc), lunch we are usually out for (pasty, meal in pub, fish amf chips etc), we sometimes eat out again in the evening (say 4 times in the week) but if weve eaten a lot at lunch, we do stay in and have beans on toast/something easy. No proper cooking though

I also love a holiday supermarket. Favourite proper Spanish supermarket is Mercadona closely followed by Eroski. spars and Dino will do, but only because that's sometimes the only choice.

Don't like Max Dia or Supersol and the latter is where you go if you want to buy British products at three times the price of the UK.

Sometimes there are naice gems like Ropers in Playa Blanca Lanzarote or Casa Pepe in Paguera Mallorca. Both are like Booths or Waitrose.

Never found anything good in Malta or Gozo. I've seen a Lidl but couldn't get to it and otherwise it was just the overpriced and badly stocked small independents, which are good for little more than beer and crisps.

Not really been anywhere else so can't comment on France etc.

One of my favourite things about going on holiday is visiting the local markets and cooking with the ingredients/produce I find. But I don't really see cooking as a chore and enjoy it just as much as eating out.

barbara - yes, same here! I love a wander around Greek supermarkets to check out local crisp flavours, breads, meats etc. Though if I'm being pragmatic we'll just pop into Aldi early in the trip for what we need.

We would normally buy a few bits from a supermarket . Maybe have a couple of lunches and breakfasts at the apartment as easier sometimes with Dc or if without dc and just having a pool day . Apart from that prefer to go out
