Naively I thought mostly UK. But read a few threads where people are elsewhere in the world. Just curious. I'm in the northwest of the uk.

Your baby will be Emirati as the GCC do not recognise dual citizenship. You can however apply for a certificate of no entitlement to go in the back of the wee ones passport which is the easiest way to ensure they are able to enter the Uk without a visa. Granted you could also get a British passport for the baby but when you are going in and out of the Emirates they will check of exit and entry stamps to other countries and it can quickly become apparent that your wee one has another passport. If you are caught the passport will be taken from you by the authorities and sent back to the Bristh Embassy by them.

Having the wee ones birth registered at the British embassy of having the certificate of no entitlement generally means you can apply to the French Embassy for a Schengan Visa - they are usually quite happy to issue a 5 year one. Others are inclined to only give for a few months.

Have lived and loved very happily in a GCC state for 40 years as the wife of a local. I have 5 children and 6 grandchildren and even though you would never know it from outward appearances this is where I am from.

It's DH who is so set on getting both passports for the little one when he's born, and I'll be giving birth in London anyway... we both know many half/half locals who have 2 passports and use them successfully in tandem but I'm a little apprehensive about being such a rule breaker; not in my nature at all!! I'll try to keep convincing DH that the options you explained are the better route to take for now :)

I'm from the South-East, but I've lived in Dubai from more than a decade. @MrsPeelyWaly the GCC must have changed dramatically in the time you've been there!

From Gloucestershire but have also lived in Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire and Cornwall. I am planning to emigrate within the next few years though.
