Does anyone have one foot bigger than the other

One foot is a 5 and a half and the other is a six. I have a pair of size six shoes on and they are far too big for the smaller foot. It can't be good for me.
How does anyone else manage?

That's interesting, Toby

I am guessing that's because most people are right-handed?

My left is bigger but then I am left-handed!

Yes, 6.5 and a 7. I also have one leg longer than the other (a few mm- enough to encourage back problems/ weakness) and one ear bigger than the other Shock all my dads doing it would seem as he's also the same Hmm maybe I should get him to buy me the extra pair of shoes...

I buy two pairs, especially for my everyday shoes, but I Have a set of 'nice shoes' for all day weddings or whatever in various colours as well. I had serious foot pain (policemans heel plus an issue with my big toe) for years until I got the wrong "pair" of shoes by annidentally taking a 5.5 and a 6 to the check out when trying to decide which size to buy. It was like a revaluation!

Now I find cheaper shoes from say new look or Debenhams x2 more comfortable than any expensive shoes I've ever owned. I'd love to find my other half because I have a huge shoe collection (it's my one thing really) and I have at least one full box of the opposite shoes just sat there.

Yes a 5.5 and a 6 - same as the OP. Depending on the shop/style etc I can wear a 5 or 6.

jnl0612 · 26/03/2017 00:20

I have a 4 (l) and a 6 (r)
Usually just wear a 5 one a bit big one a bit tight lol

Seren85 · 26/03/2017 00:24

I have a half size difference (6 and 5.5) and use insoles and/or heel grips or (with boots) an extra sock.

EmmaWoodlouse · 26/03/2017 13:47

A bit, but probably not even a whole half size (essentially size 7 but one foot a tiny bit smaller than that). My left foot is bigger and I'm right-handed so I'm not convinced there's anything in that correlation. It's only ever a problem in very open slip-on shoes like courts or ballet pumps and a heel grip usually solves it.

When I was quite young I met a lady who had one foot visibly quite a lot smaller than the other and also a bit oddly shaped. She didn't tell me about it, I noticed as we both went to a gym. She didn't seem to wear any special insoles or anything but just always wore shoes that did up in some way, either lace-ups or Mary Janes with the strap quite high up on her instep. I have no idea whether she found that comfortable. She was quite a lot older than me (would probably be at least 80 now if she's still alive) and I think maybe her generation just had an assumption that you managed somehow. I bet she would have been better off with mismatched shoes or adaptations to one of them, though.

My right foot is larger, so always try a right shoe first when buying shoes.

Spikeyball · 26/03/2017 14:16

I have a 5 normal width and a 5.5 wide fit. I wear a 5.5 or a 6 and always wear a lace up or shoes with a strap.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 26/03/2017 14:26

Yep 5.5 and 6. Which way round OP?

That short story re foot twins is a Marian Keyes. Doesn't the foot twin end up stealing the main characters boyfriend though?! A cautionary tale

Clarks run a scheme where you can buy 2 different sized shoes for 50% more but I think it needs to be at 2+ size difference. May be wrong though!
