Washing machine upstairs

AIBU here...my upstairs neighbour has their washing machine on about 3-4 times a day. When it spins the back two rooms of my property shake and are very noisy. I don't mind it during the day, but for the last couple of months it's still been on spin and drain past 10pm. Would it be alright if I asked her not to put a wash on so late or will I just be in for a mouthful of abuse? Are there rules for this sort of thing or is it a common courtesy to not do late night washing?

Absolutely no harm in mentioning it. I wonder if it would be possible to put something underneath the machine to reduce the vibration in some way.

She's probably got no idea it's audible to you.

Absolutely ask her - if I was the neighbour I'd really want to know and would be happy to make adjustments.

I'd definitely mention it. I wouldn't have put my machine on that late when I lived in a flat. And sounds like the feet could do with adjusting.

Ask her. If I've had a shared wall I've always been careful not to have noisy machines on at night.

I think I will pop upstairs tomorrow and ask if she would mind not putting her washing on so late. I think I'm a bit nervous to as I've already had to talk to her about not putting food down the drain (it blocks the drain in the garden, yuck), not throwing her cigarette ends into the garden and not letting her friends kids jump up and down in the living room too much (my light fell off the ceiling). She's a nice woman, and I don't want to look like a miserable old bag.

The feet probably need adjusting if it's so noisy.
