Hi. Am I crazy to want to organise a online birthday party.. I don't have any freinds in real life but I want somewhere where I can pretend I'm. Having a party but only via Facebook or WhatsApp with people I have never met.. Otherwise I won't see anyone but my parents on my birthday.

Wow you're nasty eggcurry. I bet people are queueing up to invite you to things.

thethoughtfox · 15/03/2017 08:12

OP, that sounds fun. There is a certain type of people who 'don't get' this idea but most people would enjoy that. Have a great time xx

StewPots · 15/03/2017 08:18

That's a great idea OP, if it works for you then why the hell not? Ignore egg, who really can't see the irony of what they're saying.
"Hmm, an online loser party where you chat to other online losers you don't know??"
Said on a forum ONLINE to PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW!

KKthePanda · 15/03/2017 08:38

i mean drinking alone dressed like a slob talking to people who you don't know.

MaximaDeWit · 15/03/2017 08:47

eggcurry, safe to say you're NFI to the party. Buh-bye

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 15/03/2017 09:05

Op, do you do any online activities like online games or similar? You may enjoy the (virtual) company of like-minded people there, as well as mn.

Dh and I have attended several online parties over the years and they've been great fun. Some of the people we've gone on to meet up with in real life on a regular basis, others are very close friends bit we've never meet and perhaps never will (not least as they are all over the world)

Oh, and Egg I assume you've never taken part in an event like this so don't know what you're talking about, otherwise you'd know better than to be so small minded and judgemental.
Fyi, the events I've attended (and organised) have included people from a wide variety of backgrounds and personalities. Including very outgoing people who also enjoy irl socialising, introverts who don't, people who are housebound due to disability our other reasons etc. We also had the odd pita, but the beauty of an online party is you can mute or even kick the killjoys.....maybe that's why certain types of people are do scathing about them?.... Wink

Crunchymum · 15/03/2017 20:29

Also curious if this is the same postern who asked about going clubbing on his own.

PollyHampton · 15/03/2017 20:33

OP I'll come to your party! Sounds just up my street! But I worry about you and the way you live, can we help?

LagunaBubbles · 15/03/2017 20:38

Egg you sound horrible, the world is made up of different people and I would rather be friends with someone like the OP than someone who comes on an anonymous internet forum to be nasty to a stranger.

I have an online Eurovision every year on FB. None of my local friends are into it so a group of us online watch it simultaneously, commenting on the craziness of the acts (the Russian grannies were our favourites so far) and occasionally posting photos of whatever we're eating and drinking. We did similar for the 2012 Olympics opening & closing ceremonies. They're good harmless fun and miserable killjoys are not invited so you go for it, OP.
