To think weather forcasts should be banned?

Last night the weather for my area was rain all day so my Mum didn't do her washing. But its dry today and now none is forecast. So should the forecasts be banned and only revealed when there is a risk of dangerous weather?

Personally I would ban people who want to ban things which they can easily ignore but others may find interesting or useful Smile

Just keep an eye on the met office site for your postcode. That's generally accurate within 24hrs. The BBC TV forecast isn't specific enough.

I don't quite understand it when people say that weather forecasts are 'ALWAYS wrong'. Nowadays, with all the technology they have at their disposal, meteorologists are able to make pretty accurate short term weather predictions. Of course they won't get it right 100% of the time, but overall I think they do a pretty good job. I read somewhere a few months ago that today's 3 day forecasts are more accurate than a one day forecast back in 1980. Generally, forecasts are between 70 and 80% accurate.

I can only imagine the incandescent rage OP would have had if the BBC had predicted a sunny day and it had rained on her Ma's washing Grin

The best weather forecasts are in the Daily Express and usually as front page headlines.

"Weather forecasts do not exist to aid people in their laundry choices!"

Excuse me. Drying the nation's clothes is very serious business, I'll have you know.

Ha ami, I'm laughing at "six inches of snow to hit Britain!" making it to the front page headline. Isn't that just called "winter"?

Where I used to live, six inches would have been a light dusting.

Weather forecasts do exist to aid people in their laundry choices, and also their choice of day out, whether they need to take an umbrella with them, how much fuel they need to fly across the Atlantic, whether they should check on elderly people in the community, how many sausages to put on the shelves, whether it's safe to fly out to an oil rig, whether to grit the roads tonight, which location to take their ice cream van to today - from the vital to the frivolous, the weather forecast is for them all 😀
