I've volunteered to read with my daughter's class.
I'm in between jobs and as luck would have it l'm a TA. Up until two weeks ago l was a member of staff at another school.
Anyway... today l took to the new school office:
My driving license
My birth certificate
My previous DBS
Valid UK passport.
A payslip from the same council- in my name and with my address.
And a bill addressed to me.
I totally understand they would need to make a new application for my volunteering.
I don't understand why they would need any more letters in my name/address?
I'm taking a BT bill - hope that will be enough Confused

But what did she actually DO, OP? To be honest, this is coming across as though she failed to kiss your backside when doing her job, resulting in your ego being somewhat bruised...

sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 10:42

Oh no bust not at all.
You couldn't be more wrong.
If you look at my original post you will see all the documents l gave her. The only thing missing was my inside leg measurement! and my last smear!Grin
She didn't seem interested in processing it- and l wanted to check if she'd sent me away to get another piece of ID unnecessarily.
A few posts have said as much.

  • didn't need so much ID. I mean.

Trifleorbust · 09/03/2017 10:50

But I've asked you several times, OP - other than ask you for what she has been told to ask you for, without apologising to you for doing her job, what actually happened? You're being so vague it is making me almost convinced that that was it.

foodtime · 09/03/2017 11:04

I don't understand what you point is bust.

The OP has been very clear with what happened.

sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 11:12

Oh bust l really think this is getting boring
I'm really not sure how l can look any deeper into this.
I've given the best explanation l can.
To make you happy: l just wanted to check here , that what l had given was enough.
Actually, l kind of knew it was from previous checks.
There are polite ways to ask, and there are exasperated ways.
I came to help. I was given the impression it was all too much work.
I was sent away to collect more ID - when there is no way my stash was insufficient.
Bear in mind the teacher was really grateful and happy that l'd be able to do this.
I've looked so much into this now, that l'm starting to think l may just implode! Grin

sameoldscene: You're right, it is. Doesn't sound like she was the one in the wrong here to me anyway. But hey ho.

Trifleorbust · 09/03/2017 11:16

foodtime: Obviously I don't think so.

sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 11:18

bust
Go for a walk or something- you are way too invested ( in what must be one of the most boring posts l've ever started)
Unless you are the secretary? Wink

OP posts:
CurlsandCurves · 09/03/2017 11:18

You had more than enough ID!
I know I said I always advise to bring as much as you can, unless there was anything wrong with the pieces you've listed I cannot understand why the receptionist sent you away to get more? Was she going to be the person checking your documents?

Trifleorbust · 09/03/2017 11:22

No need to be so rude, OP. You asked, so don't get snippy when people don't understand or agree with you. It's an unattractive quality. Possibly it was the issue with the admin lady too?

sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 11:22

curves it was all bang up to date!
License had the correct address.
Passport was me square face was mine!
small payslip was mine... etc... Grin

OP posts:
sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 11:25

Sweetie - you sound like you could have an argument with your own lunchbox!
I don't think you should let yourself get so worked up by a post about admin / no good will come of it!

OP posts:
sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 11:26

And actually, l can't understand why l wasn't asked to do it online?
Oh well...

OP posts:
Trifleorbust · 09/03/2017 11:27

I'm out.

sameoldscene · 09/03/2017 11:28

Thank goodness!

CurlsandCurves · 09/03/2017 11:49

As regards to online, the umbrella company they use to process the appplications might not be online yet, it's being gradually rolled out. We still do ours via post at the moment.

Ihatethedailymail1 · 10/03/2017 08:50

If you register with the update service, you need never do a new DBS again, and it works for any employer, as long as it is the correct check, child or adult or both.
Do that and it's much simpler.

IamFriedSpam · 10/03/2017 08:55

What is it with some school receptionists? I had a few bad experiences looking around primaries (although about as many good experiences - seems like there are no average school receptionists they're either very rude or very helpful).

I needed another ID for my DBS because the address on my passport wasn't up to date if that's not the case I'm surprised they needed more!

IamFriedSpam · 10/03/2017 08:56

YANBU about her being rude either, makes no sense, she could have just said "oh sorry could you bring another form of ID".

EustaceClarenceScrubb · 10/03/2017 10:12

There are addresses on passports now? Mine does not have an address on it, but it is nearly 10 years old so about to expire.
