before you comment and tell me im being unreasonable.... you have to be prepared to share something odd you do so that we can judge your judginess (just for fun !)

am i the only one who.....cooks sausages in a little water till they are cooked, then lets the water cook off leaving the fat from the sausages to brown them before serving? ( it makes them lovely and juicy and crispy all at the same time)

But sorry pasta sandwich is weird. You win!!!

TheMysteriousJackelope · 10/03/2017 04:38

I am in the US and I have several times seen instructions to add a little water to the pan when cooking sausages.

I add sweetcorn and black beans to chili (as well as the regular pinto beans). This is quite common in the US but when I suggested it on a recipe thread on Mumsnet you'd think I'd suggested adding werewolf blood or truffle oil.

WatchingFromTheWings · 10/03/2017 05:07

I cook my (slimming world) sausages in the slow cooker with (slimming world) onion gravy. Leave them for hours with a load of veg.

PollytheDolly · 10/03/2017 05:12

I'm going to try the sausage thing.

DevilsDumplings · 10/03/2017 06:06

Ickle' Macaronni cheese, mince and tomatos... isn't that deconstructed lasagne Grin

Haggischucker · 10/03/2017 06:06

I love a spaghetti sandwich! Two slices buttered toast, has to be spaghetti (tried all the pastas to determine the winner) with a homemade tomato sauce. Amazing!

And when on the subject macaroni cheese can only be enjoyed fully with garlic bread and chips - every carb represented in that dish!

Tootsiepops · 10/03/2017 06:15

I enjoy a supernoodle sandwich.

Groovee · 10/03/2017 06:18

I wash my mince after browning and I have no idea why.

Nandocushion · 10/03/2017 06:18

OP you are 100% correct about sausages. Ensures they are cooked on the inside before browning the outside. Ignore the others here - they are misguided at best, and at worst, are eating sausages still pink in the centre.

embo1 · 10/03/2017 06:40

After frying, I slice one sausage in half and if pink, slice them all and fry cut side down. I like the crispy middle bit.

Prefer them done in the oven though.
Wash browned mince? No... But I do pour half a kettle's worth of boiled water over cooked pasta (in colander in sink) to get rid of the starch, which also serves to heat it up as I always seem to put the pasta on too soon.

DonaldStott · 10/03/2017 06:44

Supernoodle butty here too. It's very rare I will have one, but its my dirty little secret. Have the butter nice and thick so it is melty off the hot supernoodles.

londonrach · 10/03/2017 06:55

We do. Its how they cook them in germany (we love visiting this country on holiday) and they taste amazing. I put them in a stock cube in water with carrots etc at the bottom and cook for a couple of hours. Taste amazing! Apart from tasting much better than fried i think they better for you that way. Yum!

wonderingsoul · 10/03/2017 07:19

bitchy i also eat frozen peas Grin

You should try frozen grapes... they are lush

liz70 · 10/03/2017 07:27

"I was told recently that I make sponge cake all wrong recently as I use an electric whisk."

Shock What lunatic doesn't use a leccy whisk for sponge cake mix? Confused

piginboots · 10/03/2017 07:57

JedBartlet my dp's student meal of choice was pasta tuna and beans Confused

PiratePointyTits · 10/03/2017 08:00

I like a chunk or two of raw potato while cutting them up to make mash.
My mum used to eat raw sausage as a nipper in the 50's. She said it was delicious.

Gawagirl · 10/03/2017 08:09

I love toasted pancakes with strawberry jam and cheddar cheese, the stronger the better! My OH refuses to even try it, but he is happy to eat beetroot on toast!!

LavenderRains · 10/03/2017 08:11

pirate I can remember pestering my mum for bits of raw sausage and raw potato when she was preparing dinner. She used to give me it too! Yuk!!! Shock

LavenderRains · 10/03/2017 08:13

DH likes a cheese and jam & crisp sandwich and if we ever have any condensed milk it the house he has to have it in a sandwich with sugar!!

usernotfound0000 · 10/03/2017 08:13

derlei back in the day when Bachelors used to make tikka flavoured pasta 'n' sauce, I used to love having this in a sandwich. My boyfriend at the time used to have it and of course I mocked him, until I tried it. Haven't found any other pasta that's as good in a sandwich since though.

MsJuniper · 10/03/2017 09:17

Now I really want a noodle sandwich!

Remember travelling in Australia and almost running out of money... 10c noodles and cheap white bread kept me going :)

spooniestudent · 10/03/2017 14:02

Raw spaghetti sticks dipped in squash used to be my snake of choice as a child which I sometimes still have now

Kitsandkids · 10/03/2017 15:59

I've never tried sausages like that - I just stick them in the oven and turn them over halfway through the time.

My 'weird' food thing is that I put the butter on a jacket potato after the other filling(s). So cheese or tuna, or both, then some big lumps of butter on top. Mmmmmmm!

WhoDoDatLikeDat · 10/03/2017 16:01

Am I the only one who mops up lamb fat with white sliced bread and has it as a starter while the lambs just finishing off?

It's the food of the gods.

WhoDoDatLikeDat · 10/03/2017 16:04

As a student I used to make toasted sandwiches with cheese and bombay mix.

That was lush.
